Ocenaudio runs and works in OS X Lion, which cannot be said about Audacity 2.03 that just jumps in the dock in both OS X 10.6 and 10.7. I'll rate it later when I've tried on some more material and listened closely.

Wow. This is the kind of fun and easy-to-use audio editor that used to be the norm on Macs before clutter-and-bloat set in. Beautiful. Easy to use. Supports plug-ins, VST and Apple at least. Do not be scared of the cross-platform notice: This appears to be a native Cocoa app. My only concern is that it's free. Paid apps tend to get better and longer support from their developers. A minor ding for not opening old Sound Designer II files, of which I have many.

I owe the developers of Ocenaudio an apology - I was mistaken in my comment that the application does not offer the ability to apply fade-in or fade-out to a waveform. That facility is there and this removes one of the reasons why I only gave this excellent application a 3-star rating. That said, I still feel that a manual is essential but, for now, I would give it four stars if only the MU website would allow me to .

Write to them and ask them to remove your original post. Then do a new one with the rating you want. They've done this for me before.

For free software Ocenaudio is an amazingly capable audio editor which can carry out almost all of the basic editing that I would have needed from the late lamented Bias Peak which I have used for many years. I can see only two strikes against it, but both are serious: (1) The software is crying out for a decent manual. It is frustrating that there are things that I know Ocenaudio can do - some of them very simple like moving the cursor to the start or to the end of a waveform - but it took me ages to figure out how to do them. Some I haven't figured out yet. A comprehensive manual PLEASE folks, and SOON! (2) So far as I can see (but without a manual I cannot be sure) there is no way to apply fade-in or fade-out regions to a waveform. This is something that I need to do all the time in my work and its absence means that I cannot adopt Ocenaudio as a replacement for Peak. Because of these two deficiencies I can only award three stars but if they were corrected I would be happy to pay to own the software.

This is an excellent app. I found this app by accident while I was looking to replace Vox 2.0.2. I used Vox for a few years but after getting a new Mac with 10.9.3 Mavericks the new Vox 2.0.2 was not working for me, It lost features I used a lot. Ocenaudio is way better than Vox. After applying EQ effects to an exported audio file I was impressed how clean the export was and without distortion. Thank you to the developer. Five Plus Stars

Nice app, easy to understand and use. I am not an audio genius so I cannot compare it to paid pro software, but I am a casual and general home user so it is ideal. I am sure it can be used for a lot more besides what I require. I use M/L 10.8.5 if that helps, no crashes or problems with this software for the time I have been using it.

Lightweight, fast, intuitive and just the features I needed. Even quickly exports clips as iPhone ring tones. Well done.
