Snippet Edit

1.2.122 April 2014

Override Xcode standard snippets.

Overview

Snippet Edit empowers you to take control of Xcode's standard code snippets!

Looking for a way to modify Xcode's system-supplied snippets? Want to prevent some of them from showing in the Code Completion Menu in Xcode? Snippet Edit makes it possible.

Prefer your braces on a new line when Xcode auto-completes if statements, for loops and init methods? Want tabs instead of spaces? Get Snippet Edit!

Snippet Edit can override Xcode's Standard Snippets, but does not modify Xcode itself. Editing is non-destructive, you can revert to Xcode's Standard Snippets at any time.

Modified snippets will show up as User Snippets in Xcode's Code Snippet Library. You can edit snippets in Snippet Edit or in Xcode directly, they are now under your control!

What's new in Snippet Edit

Version 1.2.1:
  • Fixes the bug where Snippet Edit was unable to find Xcode when it was stored outside the Applications folder.

Requirements for Snippet Edit

  • Mac OS X 10.7.0 or later

Or simply edit them from Xcode... No need from a third-party app...

Hi Macmade, thank you for your review. I'm the developer of Snippet Edit. The reason I developed Snippet Edit is that Xcode does not allow you to edit built-in snippets, or disable them. If the snippets do not match your coding style (eg braces or spaces in the wrong place, you use ARC, you want to use tabs for indentation), this can be frustrating. With Snippet Edit, you can edit the built-in snippets exactly how you like them, and disable the ones you don't use so they don't appear.
