cf/x contour collage

1.3.519 December 2015

Create custom-shaped collages.

Overview

With cf/x contour collage, arrange your photos into a collage with a customizable contour or shape: a heart, a star, or your companyʼs logo! You can either use one of the many built-in shapes, use the text generator, or supply your own image that contour collage then converts to a shape/contour.

Additionally, you can tell contour collage to alter the contour of all the photos in the collage to that of one of the supported shapes. For example, you can tell contour collage to create a heart-shaped collage out of photos that are all shaped like a puzzle piece.

Contour collageʼs main features:

  • Interactive image tray
  • Lots of built-in shapes that can be filled or outlined
  • Exceedingly fast (once all images have been loaded)
  • Simple, intuitive interface
  • Exports to many different file formats
  • Integration with iPhoto, Aperture, Preview.app, Desktop, Apple Mail

What's new in cf/x contour collage

Version 1.3.5:
  • Improved compatibility with OS X 10.11 El Capitan

Requirements for cf/x contour collage

  • Mac OS X 10.7.0 or later

I've been looking for a photo collage app that allows for custom shapes, and cf/x contour collage has come to the party. Very easy to use. I've created a number of excellent looking collages already using my own custom created shapes (accepts many graphic file formats including jpeg, png, PSD and pdf to name but a few), one of which contained just over jpeg 400 photos. Gotta say that cc, despite being a little slow in initially reading the photos, did a fairly quick job of rendering the final product. After the initial render additional changes are much quicker. I'd like to see some more options and features, like an on-the-fly dynamic slider to control spacing between photos and random seed ability - both with auto preview - so you can make subtle changes before rendering. I'd also like to see integration with iPhoto (you can drag and drop from iPhoto, but I'd like the ability to do that from within cc). All in all, a very stable, clever and capable first version. Very nicely done!

Not a comment but a question: In the 'Key Features' section on cf/x’s Contours Collage web page < http://cfxsoftware.com/products/contour-collage/#tab-id-2 > it states "Integration with iPhoto, Aperture, Preview.app, Desktop, Apple Mail". iPhoto and Aperture, of course, have been replaced by the Photos application. Can anyone confirm if Collage and Contours Collage can access images from the Photos library? I own Collage but haven't used it since the days of OS X Lion or so (before Photos.app was introduced); I'm on the road right now with only the iPad, otherwise I'd give it a test drive on my own machine. Thanks, μ
