What's new in MegaSeg

Version 6.0.9:
Import:
  • The progress of importing, sorting, and saving the library are all displayed within a single dialog
  • The speed of importing a folder has been optimized, especially with AIFF or FLAC files
Library Tools:
  • Scan For Missing Files is up to 8x faster, and streamlined with options to find or remove tracks within the report
  • The Import Library as Text command now attempts to correct mis-formatted dates
Playlist Browser:
  • Optimized opening a playlist that requires importing tracks

Other:

  • Improved file tracking on APFS formatted volumes, and finding modified filenames
  • Library sorting speed is vastly improved, especially for larger libraries
  • Resolved a possible error when renaming categories and playlists, or performing multi-select edits
  • Resolved an issue where clicking the progress dialog's cancel button may cause it to remain visible
  • Resolved an issue where a "Quick Library Scan" dialog appeared after every reboot on AFPS volumes
  • The process of removing a missing file has been streamlined
  • Type-to-select no longer gets stuck at apostrophes and other special characters, and matches albums in playlists
Pro version:

Events:

  • An Insert URL event with ";stream" appended to the URL no longer causes an issue retrieving metadata
  • Depending on the event type, the Add Event dialog resets or disables the Priority and Interrupt options
  • The Priority option now works with Open/Insert Playlist events

Other:

  • Fixed a bug where Request Note reminders may appear on the video playback screen
  • Logging: When editing a synced event list, it no longer triggers a log entry
  • Rules/Logging: When renaming or removing categories, it also updates the Ignore Categories list
  • Scheduler: When renaming categories, it updates categories in the schedule being edited
  • Resolved an issue after a sync completes that may cause a track to segue prematurely
  • Resolved an issue where fade-override may become enabled on some tracks after syncing
  • When the Mixer is hidden, the current song view shows a resize cursor on the bottom left side

Requirements for MegaSeg

  • Mac OS X 10.6.0 or later

This app have always been a crappy app and will stay that way until somebody with a clue does a complete rewrite. The autoplay of Traktor DJ Studio is way way better for a broadcasting radio studio and very stable too. Don't get me started on DJing.

MegaSeg has been a great automation solution to our college radio station for 10 years and it has been great. The developers took a few of our suggestions for making it better for our use and implemented them in the next version they released. We run it over summer vacation at our station and it runs for 3 months without issue. For the money its a great app if you are looking for a solution for a low power or school radio station. The manual is a bit long but it does cover EVERYTHING you need to know and some you might not even thought of. Once it is setup you are good to go for a long time without worry.

You cannot compare this with Traktor Pro - different tasks. This one is for automated radio shows. Special feature is that you can time events, change song moods at a certain time or have a special announcement at midnight. And a very fine grained automated protection against song repetitions, like radios need it. Traktor Pro, DJay, etc. are more for live entertainment fun with a DJ present. Interface is 90ies, I agree on that ;-) But Traktor also does not look especially "nice", to be honest.

(Comment on my previous Review for 4.0.1.) Dropouts are gone(!) on my Mac with the new 4.0.2. (If you still have dropouts, try how it is with "keep drives spinning" OFF in the prefs.) Also the developer is now very responsive to reports and questions. Since this were the only main points annoying me with the app, and they are gone, I can now update my personal rating to a full 5 stars. I start really loving this toy.
