Don't buy this or anything from this company (Macware), you will never get any support or update. They just cheat people with old version, and you can't get any support. We have profs about what we are saying, it's bad and sad that some company dos work like this. Just find the original author, there you will get update and support.

it worked fine until I upgraded my OS to Sierra. It doesn't work with Sierra and there are apparently no plans to upgrade.

This is Abandonware. MacWareInc is now pushing "macProfit" for $40.

And apparently, macProfit is based on code from another app called Totals (look it up here in MacUpdate), and the reviews over at Amazon about macProfit are mostly critical and the ratings are poor.

From their FAQ:
Q. I previously used MacFreelance. Does macProfit import a database from MacFreelance?
A. Unfortunately because macProfit is a new product from Macware, it does not work with MacFreelance.

Sounds like it would be best to avoid this app.

The advice from Moxiesozo, is one I followed. Not only this opinion, there are several saying the same thing. Do not purchase a license for present package: macProfit. They just push a brick, referring to developer for support, updates and upgrades. No developer is linked to the sale of macProfit. To be sure every instance of macProfit has left my Mac, I run this: https://db.tt/bqdTMv76
