Mail Archiver X

5.1.009 July 2019

Mail archiving, cleaning, and browsing.

Overview

Mail Archiver X protects one of your Mac-based small business' most important assets: your email.

  • Archive with one click: After you've set up archiving, future archives can be created in one click. And these are smart archives, taking only what you have not archived before.
  • Email clients and services: All major email clients are supported: Apple Mail, Eudora, Gmail, Exchange, Outlook, Entourage, Powermail, Postbox, and Thunderbird.
  • Protect and speed up: Archive as much of your email as you want, or archive and speed up your email client by removing the mails from the mail client.
  • Find your mails easily: Search archived email as easily as you search email today.
  • Automatic verification: Mail Archive X automatically checks and verifies as mails are added to an archive.
  • Flexible export formats: Easily export your email to Evernote, PDF, Filemaker, or other formats to suit your needs.

What's new in Mail Archiver X

Version 5.1.0:
  • Archiving mails from Mail is fast again. 2 times faster than before!
  • Writing to the index is now faster than before. There is no beachball shown for larger mails.
  • Archiving to Filemaker is about 20-30% faster and is less likely to have errors. The memory leak is Filemaker is also much better.
  • It's now possible to re-upload mails to an IMAP server.
  • Added support for the new MailTags version.
  • It's now possible to delete/change the Gmail authentication.
  • Exporting now works with a large selection.
  • The Filemaker file is copied to documents during installation.
  • The Filemaker options for attachments have been improved.

Requirements for Mail Archiver X

  • OS X 10.9.0 or later

This developer is head & shoulders the best i've encountered over the past 2 decades in providing customer support. Makes me think of artisans who, centuries ago, did that as a matter of course - a practice that in our day has all but disappeared. Unsurprisingly, the software reflects the developer's excellence - deceptive simplicity in form & function adapted to do what a user like me needs, (like a good poem, it masks the effort of its creation). I'd give it more than 5 stars if it were an option. [BTW, i'm rarely moved to comment on software, despite the fact that i buy on a regular basis, & that my decisions to buy are often meant to support developers who do good work].

pity to see so many bad reviews about this product. haven't used it yet. but I am happy the way Mail Backup X has been working. I was surprised to find so many features in just one tool. archiving, mail backing, mail viewing, and mail conversion as well. it doesn't let me find an alternative. the only tool in the market that works on yahoo mail archiving as well. a multi-purpose tool. this tool is probably designed aiming the need for next 5 years. quite ahead of its contemporaries. you can check it out at their home site: www.mailbackupx.com. I just found they have been running 50 % discount as well. get it asap.

This application looks fine but is terribly sloooow ! A nightmare that remove the interest for large database. I don't know how it is written, by obviously, this is not professional standards. Very frustrating.

I've just updated to version4 and have been a Mail Archiver user for a number of years. The set up is relatively quick and easy, the U.I. is good when looking at mail, and it imports Mail Tags into the archive. I've had no problem with search at all (the trick is to enter you search word then click through the various Mailbox folders you've set up).
As for the support, the developer offers some of the best support/service I've ever had. There have been times when I've had Beatrix get back to me within 5 minutes after a support request for some minor issue.
There is a trial version available, so all I can say is give it a go.

I tried it out with 144,000 emails. I haven't had a crash yet though I've found there's no progress indicator when it's "thinking." If I give it time, it gets there.

Doesn't that make your files really HUGE? Isn't it better to have a smaller number of larger files? (I have 120,000 emails archived.)

I've struggled with this utility for over a year. I just uninstalled it. After this update it restarted scheduled backups that had been dormant for many months Searches return zero matches even for a word like "and." Searches only work in a specific folder. No global search. If a folder has a nested folder in it I don't think it searches it. It's slow with a lot of beach balls and no progress bars/indicators for searches. The daily backups have a progress bar and it takes 4+ hours to process changes in my 9K emails adding 20-50 emails to the db in the end. It hangs after that and needs to be force quit. I think this must be my setup as others seem to think this utility works fine. I rate it as per my experience. The developer is responsive but I just can't spend the time/hassle. Mail Steward has been far superior for me with none of the hassles. Thanks ... Ken
