This is an excellent application, the others do not compare with this one.It is easy to use and I use it daily. The instant on plug in works well in Mavericks ,I am sure when Yosemite is finished it will work well ,Yosemite is a beta right now and is hardly expected to be finished.

Audio Hikack is a very useful tool to record audio from almost any source. The interface is strange and you need a while to learn to use it. The big minus point is the price. This is really far too high for what it does. Therefore I can't really recommend this. Unfortunately there are no good alternatives. Someone?

3.5.5 Keeps asking for helper permission to change how it works. It is so annoying, I had to delete it. I still use the older version in High Sierra. It is so much more intuitive. I am so sorry, I just don't need a new learning curve to add to my stress level.

They were nice enough to send me a beta copy of AH for Mojave awhile back when I wrote to find out about its progress. It's worked just fine on all the Mojave public betas I've used.

Will it record streaming audio as individual .mp3 files? Or will it save the entire stream as a single file?

Hi ben-marko,
How are you?
Audio Hijack will allow you to do both. If you want to record the entire stream you need not do anything so special. Yet, if you want to save the recorded audio as individual .mp3 files you will need to monitor the recording so that you can manually click on the Split command in the Recorder block for your chosen application to listen to the stream. Each app you choose to use to listen to or record online streams will need it's own session, which is easy to setup because the app walks you through it. For example, if you choose to use Safari to watch/listen to your stream, Audio Hijack will record the audio using its Recorder block. Another cool feature in this same Recorder block is it will allow you to pause the recording. Sometimes the things we listen to online are not live, they are on demand videos/audios, so if you need to step away, you can pause both your recording in Audio Hijack and pause the on demand video/audio. I hope this helps you. God bless you, Sir!

With macOS10.13.3 this introduces gaps and audio glitches in the audio. Also, this app is overly too complicated to set up.

Couldn't disagree more. This is one of the easiest and most intuitive apps I've ever used for capturing audio. The wealth of choices in the type of file & formats you want to save in is most welcome and it makes using your files in different multi-media applications convenient and easy to apply to.
