Contrary to earlier comments SiteSucker has been updated for SnowLeopard and Lion - see the developers website

I've owned Back-In-Time without for some time but have not explored it until today when I needed to delete all backups of a number of folders and Time Machine refused to cooperate. B-I-T seems to have done the job very smoothly for the most part although it failed to delete the most recent backup version of one folder although it had removed all earlier versions. I'm well-pleased so far but I do feel that the GUI is a bit ugly.

My previous comments were not entirely accurate. Mireth tell me that Shredit X and Netshred X do indeed erase File Slack so BCWipe is not alone in this. To the best of my knowledge Disk Utility does not do this - but I am open to correction.

Oops! Evidently I am not allowed to post urls to the site. A Google search for "Mac File Slack" should bring up the relevant information for anyone who is interested.

The significant difference between this application and others - including Disk Utility - is that BCWipe erases File Slack whereas others do not. I am not in a position to comment on how significant a difference this is - but see for
more information.

Of all the software that I have used over the years to keep track of a very large mp3 collection CDFinder/NeoFinder is by far the most impressive. Given the rapid and friendly support provided by Norbert (who added a new 'search for any comment text' feature at my request) I feel that the upgrade price is entirely reasonable.

I have been using NetShred for many years without any problems. All the more disappointing then when I discovered that Version 4.7.4 was not shredding my history in Firefox 13.0. More disappointing still when my report took three days to produce an (unsigned) one-line response asking me "Which version of Firefox?". It's now a week since my original report and not another word. I don't necessarily expect instant solutions but a polite "Thanks for telling us - we're working on it now" would not go amiss.

Simply brilliant! I have several hundreds of messages in many layers of nested folders and MsgFiler beautifuly streamlines the work of putting individual messages in precisely the correct folder. A godsend.

I have been using Macs since 1989 and, though not very technically minded, I am generally pretty competent at experimenting with new software even without prior recourse to the manual. That said, I find Butler utterly baffling. It looks as though it could perform several tasks that I would find useful and it does provide instructions for its use. Unfortunately I find these instructions entirely opaque. I have encountered much less complex software accompanied by clear step-by-step descriptions so that even the most technically challenged could put the application through its paces. It is a pity to see what seems to be a potentially powerful tool dragged down by very poor 'how to' information.
