This software is very well maintained, totally reliable, and, well, super flexible. It is not cheap but well worth the money. Mac users might have to get over the somewhat complex interface that is devoid of eye candy but will be rewarded with a rock-solid tool for many situations. I am a Mac user and have been happily creating backups for my home media systems with SFFS for about three years now. I would be hard-pressed to think of a task that this piece of software cannot handle. I have compared and used other solutions but would like to recommend SFFS whole-heartedly.

To my ears, the best sounding free mac software player when playing lossless files! The fundamental architecture of this product is very strong and stable, so it's absolutely worth a donation (via Flatter on the developer's site). Unfortunately, however, this latest version (0.3 beta 1) will still not play FLAC lossless files when using Mac OS X 10.6.8 - while Lion users do not seem to be affected by this problem. I hope (and am quite confident) that this will get fixed in the near future.
