If this connects to AIM/Jabber, why do I have to create an "Astra" account before I can use it? There's no information on the trillian site about what this is, if/how they will store my login information, etc.

This software is up to version 1.5 now. MacUpdate might want to update its scraper for this software.

This isn't the most fully-featured midi editor out there, but for what it is, it's awesome. Thanks.

hands down the best password-management tool available. this is one of those "I can't work on a machine without it" tools.

I would have paid $5 to $10 for Leopard-compatible Pixadex. But $24? I hope you're kidding. really, really, I do hope this is like april-fools, but a couple of months early.

Very few times in my experience as a Mac User have I felt like I was being taken advantage of as a paying customer... but sadly this is one of them.

So, anyone have a reasonably-priced alternative?

In other news, I'm also going to seriously consider not buying Panic/Iconfactory software in the future, if this is their upgrade policy.

and should i ever need to re-download pixadex2, where can I do that? Oh, I can't, because Pixadex is DISCONTINUED.

Srsly, I am a registered user of both Unison and iPulse, and I love them both despite the fact that I don't have much a use for either anymore. But this upgrade is ludicrous. There's no way I'm going to pay $24 to upgrade a product that cost $14 originally, no matter how much new stuff it does: I. don't. care. about. that.

I want to like Synk, but after using it a bit, synkd, the helper process that manages automatic backups and this "zeroscan" thing that hooks into the Kernel knowing about file updates, is using 700MB of REAL MEMORY. This process is supposed to be resident ALL THE TIME. When the process is running, between the two they're using over a gig of memory. That's just not acceptable.

Thanks, but I'll stick to SuperDuper, despite its problems.

flash makes the web less like the web:
1) command-plus or minus doesn't change the text size; if a designer wants to show me 7px text, that's what I get
2) 90% of my safari or firefox crashes happen when i'm looking at a page with flash
3) there is no way to disable sound in webpages. I can otherwise do this by telling my browser not to load certain filetypes.
4) flash uses a lot of cpu. just visit a page with a lot of flash ads and watch activity monitor. Or, get a couple of youtube windows open.
5) it's not on the iphone. and, as we all know the iphone presents the "real" web. :D

the only reason i'm rating the value up is because so many sites demand I have it.

I want to feel like I can give this a shot, but:

1) it has an installer that asks for administrative rights
2) said installer installs stuff at the root level of the hard drive
3) it modifies my apache config without my permission
4) it modifies my php.ini config without my permission
5) it does not include an uninstaller to reverse these modifications to my system
6) it requires an email address for its "trial"

no thank you. The author's organization doesn't have the reputation to deserve the first one, and #s 2-5 are unforgiveable for mac apps.

I get a spinning beach ball whenever I try to 'add a source' to a document. Not very promising for a version 2, revision .0.1
