Timbuktu blows away all the VNC apps. More features, and mad compatibility. Connects & controls any Mac OSX, OS9, even OS8, plus Windows. Built in messaging system, file transfer, get system profile, idle monitor, file transfer, audio intercom, text chat, reverse connection (invite), tons of useful features. I use Timbuktu every day because it totally rocks! Awesome & solid software since 1987.

The TB2 8.85 update in ONLY required for Mavericks, not Mtn Lion nor below. Requires OSX 10.6+.

My personal TB2 settings for remote WAN use include limit to 256 colors, hide desktop, accept scaled fonts. These are in Prefs->Control. Really helps speed things up.

Major hat tip to the one guy left at Moto working to keep TB2 alive & compatible! Dude! Thanks! I'd love to buy you a beverage anytime.

Here is the Timbuktu 8.85 download URL:

And the Docs:

Other TB2 versions & release notes:

Here is the general Timbuktu page, but it stops at version 8.83.

And an upgrade page for 8.84, that doesn't mention 8.85.

Lingon X is now available from the developer, and it includes all that good stuff you guys are asking for. $10 or $7 upgrade from any Mac App Store version. Hooray!

Page Sender 4.6 works fine from Tiger to Snow Leopard. Not supported for Lion & beyond. Discontinued, last version is 4.6 released in 2010. No longer available on developer's website. Zoom 3095 external USB modem works well (don't need to install any drivers).

Sadly, the developer of QuicKeys has died. Startly is looking for a new developer.
If you know any awesome programmers, make the connection.

Eavesdrop is really great for what it does!
If you've forgotten your email or FTP password, but it is saved as a FTP bookmark, you can use Eavesdrop to listen in on the conversation between your FTP software and the server. Since the pw is often sent in the clear, you will be able to see it as it goes by.

Just one of the useful things you can do with Eavesdrop.
Works fine with Tiger, Leopard, and maybe more OS X versions.

Great, simple command line utility to view what the isight cam sees. This WILL turn on the camera's indicator light while the photo is being taken (about 3 seconds). Works fine in Leopard OS X 10.5.3. Saves photo file to same place as the application is unless otherwise specified. application file can be anywhere, doesn't have to be in Apps folder.

Good excuse to learn scp so you can retrieve the photo file. I heard of this from the comments under the story about the recovered stolen laptop:
[Version 1.1]
