Long list of iBooks permissions to be repaired after this update, but otherwise all seems fine.

Been using this for years. The simple split-screen interface is a winner.

Let me guess. Next year -- Pages Pro. All the missing features restored. And for only $14.99!

Still no "Save As..."?

So no change from ML, then.

Presumably you also have to find that checkbox to turn off AutoDestruct, er, AutoSave.

This latest security update for Snow Leopard is even bigger than the last - 348MB for my iMac. There must be some major changes in the underpinning to the system going on.
Nice to have a security patch for Safari 5, too.
Bravo to Apple for continuing to support SL.

QUARK 9 AND MAVERICKS
This comment recently posted by Quark on one of the Quark forums pages:
"Don't upgrade to OS X Mavericks [if you are running Quark 9], as QuarkXPress 9 probably won't run on Mavericks (not tested)."
You have been warned!

Just found WindowMizer and tried the Demo. One nice feature is that you can choose to make the front window transparent rather than roll it up - see under Preferences > Minimize. I’m disappointed that the windowshading effect is not instantaneous, unlike the original WindowShade. I thought I had found the solution under Preferences > Advanced, where there is a box to adjust the Wait time for the windowshade effect. However, this doesn’t seen to work -- whether the Wait time is set to 1 sec or 0, the lag still seems to be the same. Is this a bug? Can we get the windowshading to be near-instantaneous?

Thanks for the background, RGB. I'll see how you go with this.

Security Update 2013-002 for 10.6.8 is a biggie -- 330 MB. Good that Apple are still supporting Snow Leopard. Wonder if that will continue once 10.9 comes out.

Have they finally improved the Web module in Quark? It hasn't received much attention for some time and is woefully lacking in features.

To answer my own question: something fundamental has changed in the Web module of 9.5 and all my web pages produced in previous versions are now messed up when converted to html. Anyone else been caught out like this and have you asked Quark about it?

To continue this conversation with myself: I found this warning on the Quark Forums: "DO NOT UPGRADE YET if you use Quark to build webpages." We are promised a fix from Quark, though goodness knows when. Until then stay with Quark 9.3.

And the latest word is: Quark 10 is abandoning web design. So if that's important to you, look elsewhere from now on.

Well, there's your answer -- Apple hasn't give up supporting Snow Leopard. Yet.

Kobalt, Historically, Apple has only ever supported the final version of an outdated OS. Why wouldn't you want to upgrade to that?
