This is a little-known gem of a utility. I don't necessarily use it all the time, but when I do, it's tremendously handy. Like others, I do wish there was some way to make the settings "stick." I'd use it a lot more if I didn't have to manually configure an app's windows each time it launches. Yes, I'm lazy. (Make it scriptable?)

I would happily pay for this enhancement. In fact, I should go to the dev's site now and see if I can donate something.

I love this app, but I wish it could remember its settings between launches of an app. I have to manually set up a window from scratch each time I open it. Aside from that, it's tremendous!!

I like Evernote, but since upgrading to 1.7.1, it's been syncing the same five files over and over again. It's really bugging the heck out of me. I was hoping this 1.7.2 release would address this, but there's nothing about it in the release notes. Sigh.

I love this program, and how I wish it had been updated. Maybe one day it will be. When it's working correctly, it's great, but I find the server software often needs to be restarted, which kind of kills the benefit of having a remote.

I use my old iPhone next to my Mac as a more reliable remote, but I'd really rather just have it available on my main screen.

I use Tuneconnect still, but sooner or later it craps out on me.

Sometimes I just use screen sharing and shrink the window to iTunes size..

Well, after a few days they did write me with a suggestion for fixing the problem. Alas, it didn't work. I've written their tech support back more than once telling them it didn't work, and after a week or more, I've heard nothing. It's a shame. I really like this product and was very happy to pay for it, but it just doesn't work on my iMac now, and I'm getting no help at all from the developer. Time to move on, I guess.

As much as I'd love to have a newer, shinier Geektool, I had to turn this off. It doesn't use much RAM, but it ballooned to using 35 GB (yes GB) of virtual memory, slowing my iMac to a crawl. Maybe next release...

All I know is after I leave GeekTook 3 running for awhille, my iMac slows to a crawl. I have no other app that needs such a huge VM file. Why 3GB? Trying to quit gracefully out of GeekTool when it gets like this is an exercise in patience, as it's one Beachball of Death after another. The INSTANT I quit out of GeekTook, I can use my Mac again. True, this is empirical, but it happens repeatedly, and it's good enough for me to disable GeekTool, as much I'll miss it.

When it's behaving GeekTool is a must-have. This doesn't behave, at least not for me.

Apparently the developer's website is hosted on his home computer. When his Internet access goes out, the site drops off the Internet. I don't know why he doesn't mirror it somewhere, or arrange to have the actual latest version of Library Books hosted someplace with more reliable uptime, but it's free, and it's his call. I do think that it's a tremendously useful app.

I have been a big fan of Awaken for years. However, I have to agree with the comments about vanishing technical support. I installed my copy of Awaken on a new computer, and every time I launch it, I get an error message that I must enter my admin password so it can install a helper to allow it to wake my Mac from sleep. However, I enter my password, and it apparently doesn't install whatever it needs to, as I can't activate the "wake from sleep" feature, and every time I launch Awaken I get the same error message.

I've written Embraceware repeatedly, and no reply. I wasn't worried until I came here and saw other people were having support requests go unanswered. I suppose I'm on my own here. I hope embraceware returns from vacation, or wherever they've gone, as I like this program, and I want to continue using it.

I've used this app for several months now, and it's very, very handy. I have a "hacked" Apple TV which can play .avis just fine, as long as the file's embedded within the appropriate wrapper, to fool both iTunes and ATV to play it just fine.

It's getting better and better, but I have two major headaches with it that prevent me from giving it more than three stars. First of all, the Hot Folders feature has never worked for me. I think it's got something to do with my keeping my iTunes folder on an external HD. I can live with that, I don't mind manually queuing up files (although I'd much rather have it done automatically). The biggest drawback for me is that it's just not very good at finding metadata -- that is, the correct names of shows, episode titles, etc. Often it's wrong in what it finds; sometimes hilariously so. It's kind of irritating to be babysitting a conversion process which should run just fine untouched by human hands.

I just figured finding the right info was hard, and I'd just have to put up with it. And then Boxee came along! Boxee does a GREAT job of identifying movie, show, episode information; much much better than VideoDrive. So, I have to wonder, as I yet again change the hilariously misnamed mess VD makes of "House," if Boxee can do it, why can't VideoDrive?
