I like this software a lot. I use it extensively creating encrypted containers and drive partitions.
I am concerned that the developers are basically silent, and support is zero. It also appears that updates for OSX is minimal, despite the fact that at present you cannot encrypt a lot of newer external drives due to a patch not being applied allowing use of drives with non-512 byte sectors.
I would gladly pay $100 (would be well worth it) for this software, but would need to see some developer action....
Would get 5 stars across the board if OSX updates were in line with Win....

Pure scum. To newbies - any 'software' that tried to get you to install a package from one click on an *ad*, is scamware. Period.
Reputable, good software does not do this....

"I can't believe these guys have 80,000 likes on Facebook. They must be a making a lot of money."

They probably buy/fake them too!

I had an issue where disk images weren't mounting properly from network drives in one user... I stuffed about doing all sorts of troubleshooting, deleted nearly every preference file, was just about to reinstall the OS or make a new user....
The thought of old Cocktail, haven't used it for a while, deleted cache files and all was working fine.... I'm going to start using it more often!

I've used Data Rescue since 2005, but actually used it only 3 times, once to recover a couple of hundred gig from a non-mounting hard drive, then more importantly, to recover some photos of birthday cakes my wife took with my camera and didn't tell me, of course I'd re-formatted the SD card since.... Propriety software from the SD card maker failed, Data Rescue found the RAW files.... saved me from sleeping on the couch! ;)
Not having this is like driving your car without a jack! Just get it..... and hope you never use it.....
You may reap the rewards of saving a damsels deleted photos one day too... :)

I've used DG since 2005, and found it to be a good, stable app. I use it weekly or so to verify drive directories, surface scans, file shredding and never had a problem. Very easy to use, and highly recommended.
I do find the UI a little dinky/tinny though, I'd prefer one with less graphics, and all options shown on a simple panel, like System Preferences even...

Excellent application, makes what I've always found a bit daunting (rsync) easy to use.... I use this to back up 2 media players and 2 network drives across my network, to external drives, something I could not do with other software (besides rsync!).... Developer always happy to help out too....

Love this app, have been using it since v1 or 2, does its job efficiently without fuss. For those who complain about it CLI, go and learn some basic unix and enjoy it.
I can see how it may not appeal to the facebook generation though....
