I used to love vlc, but after upgrading to 2.1.4, it routinely caused kernel panics. Doing a few searches shows that vlc has had a frequent history of causing kernel panics for many people (50K+ results for vlc+kernel+panic), regardless of os version and vlc version. And the vlc doesn't even care about the problem. Any ticket that reports the problem gets closed with a message saying it's not vlc's problem and apple has to fix it.

This is not a mac program, it's a generic unix program for the terminal. There are literally tens of thousands of those available through macports/homebrew/etc, IMHO, this does not deserve an entry on this site.

This is very out of date. The latest stable chrome version is 32.x, but this build is only 30.x and is several months old.

Viewing a small image the program used 30MB compared to only 8MB for Xee. It also doesn't remember window placement, so if you move the image window to a specific spot and open other images later, the window reopens in the upper left corner, unlike Xee which will remember your preference.

I used to use this all the time just as a app launcher. But after a recent update it eats up all my memory after a while and I have to kill it. I've seen others complain about this and the developers say it's expected behavior cause it's just caching stuff in memory. I call a big load of BS on that. I have every plugin disabled and only used the app finder. There's no possible reason it should need 500 MB to cache the locations of less than 100 apps.

buggy, insecure and requires you to install as admin so you're putting your entire system at risk. if they allowed me to install only for the current user, i'd use this since i could limit my risk. so i use the standalone flash player app instead. additional benefit of that is it doesn't freeze or crash my browser.
