In light of the current selection of quite competent free anti virus, anti malware software, ie Sophos, Avast, ClamX, is it really necessary to pay for one at this point?
Sophos, Avast and ClamX all alerted me to the presence of the current 'Flashback' trojan on my machine.
And all have been problem free for me.
Are any current 'for pay' AV software superior in any way to the free ones?

Text Edit has a friend which adds some very useful functionality to the bare bones
Text Edit. It's called 'Text Edit Plus'. Check it out.
It's $15 shareware but it's developer says that it can be used free of charge in it's uncrippled state for as long as you want. you don't have pay for it!
Need need to waste your time with Uno.

I'm not not "advertising" Text EditPlus X but letting others know of worthy alternatives
to Uno!
You say you're developing Uno step by step. To which I reply "what's the point"?
Why not use your talent and creativity to develop something useful and unique instead?
As others have already pointed out, Uno is unnecessary in light of what's already out there.
Why "reinvent the wheel?"

I Was crestfallen to learn that WeatherDock would be no more….been using it for years and loving it; but now I hear that a WeatherDock 3 is in the works. Whoop di doo, I'm really jazzed.
Looks like WD3 is gonna be even nicer than 2.
You can leave your email address at developer's website and he'll let you know when WD3 is ready to roll….yes!

Privacy, to the extent that it's possible on the internet,is a big reason why one would choose Chromium over Google's Own.
If I want to avail myself of 'Extensions' for Chromium, which is actually Google's domain, I'd have to establish a Google account.
By doing so, I'd be opening myself up to Google's invasiveness, no?
Or does Chromium include foils to prevent that?
I'd really like to know!

I'd be willing to check this out….my interest is piqued, but a browser for OS 7 ONLY? What, a browser exclusively for "schwantzes"?
I'd bet $100 that there are more Snow Leopard users around then there are Lion ones and will continue to be for quite a while, at least until Lion is smooth going for most users (it ain't there yet).
I'm in OS 10.6.8…it's really good, and have nary a complaint with it, and have NO intention of going to Lion anytime soon. I know of a goodly number of other Mac users with the same mind set, too.
OK, developer, what's your rationale for making Browser schwantz-only? Hmmm?
And, oh yeah, "Browser" IS rather an inelegant name. Be creative and come up with something engaging.

After using DW for quite some time with no problems, my DW disk would not show on my desktop when inserted.
I contacted Alsoft and was told to purchase a replacement disk at $20, which I did do.
The replacement also did not show on my desktop. I tried my original disk a couple more times and it finally did show with DiskWarrior running just fine off the disk.
Dunno why my original disk is now working fine but my replacement disk is not.
Anyway, no refund forthcoming from Alsoft. Ah well, sometimes life's a bitch.
I guess that I've now got a $20 coaster for my gin and tonics.

Dunno Charles, my original DW DVD is recognized, mounts without issue and does its thing just fine;
my new $20 coaster doesn't but all other DVDs and CDs that I've tried run perfectly.
What I just can't grok is why ONLY my new DW DVD doesn't work but every other disk does.
Most puzzling!

As I've posted before, Sophos has been working beautifully for me with no issues.
Activity Monitor shows Sophos AV agent peaking at 100% CPU but no slowdown on my three year old MacBook Pro with Sophos doing a scan. I sometimes brows the internet or play an arcade style game while Sophos is scanning and experience no slowdowns on my machine.
I'm really delighted with Sophos……two thumbs up!
I've already given Sophos 5 well deserved stars.

"No one needs another basic text editor". Yeah, quite so. My guess is that the developer is a novice just learning his chops and, as he gains experience, may very well come up with something unique and interesting....qualities that UNO lacks at this point.
Dunno why I'd use UNO instead of TextEdit... which does work quite well for simple, basic writing needs.
Perhaps the developer should have waited 'till he had more to offer via Uno before putting it out here. At this point it just doesn't make much sense.
Uno is just too basic and bare bones to consider seriously.
Maybe he'll eventually come up with a full featured text editor as he hones his skills but, then, there are already quite a few really good, competent, well featured text editors out there so, one may posit, what's the point?
Well, at least he hasn't used the dreadful, and detested by many, MacCrapStore....yet!

OK, I may seem to have been a bit harsh in my comment but I do have to admit to being quite jaded in my taste for software and do have high expectations.
If you(developer) wanna go for another text editor…and there are plenty of good ones out there already, you're gonna have to come up with something that'll blow me away. Can you outdo what the excellent 'Bean', for example, has to offer? Can you outdo any of the others?
If not, then please don't bother taking this any further. Putting the very, very, simple Uno out here is just plain silly when we've already got the quite adequate TextEdit.
There are lots of text editor aficionados here. You're gonna have to knock their socks off to really satisfy them.
But I still say "a pox on the MacCrapStore". And I salute you for not involving yourself in it, so far.

I've been trying out Roccat for a few weeks now and it's OK but nothing to get excited about.
I'd say that Firefox and Safari are more competent browsers …I'll take either one, with the nod going to Firefox, over Roccat. Even Chromium outdoes Roccat IMHO.
The one big, big, shortcoming of Roccat is that there's no apparent way to save passwords, which makes Roccat rather a pain in the ass to use regularly.
Anyway, does the world really NEED another browser? Hmmm?

FF is my default browser; I've been on the v9.0.1 release channel for some time.
I've generally been very pleased with FF9.01, however, one fairly serious issue that I've been experiencing is the matter of ad-ons.
I've got 8 add-ons installed as well as several personas. They've all been working well, for the most part, but every so often a few will become automatically disabled as being incompatible.
Currently, all of them are disabled as incompatible. This glitch apparently happens when Mozilla issues minor updates for 9.0.1.
I've notified Mozilla about this but so far no joy.
I'd like to stick with a stable v9.0.1 instead of going w/the release channel.
Does anyone have a link to a stable v9.0.1 download?

I had installed this little nightmare but decided not to set it up. As has been mentioned here, KeyLemon is a real bitch to totally remove from one's system.
There's an invisible file but the developer's FAQ on how to remove the app doesn't work for me.
I'd say that the developer is very irresponsible in NOT warning the user that the app trial installs an invisible file that's not easy to remove. I'm currently trying to find a way to easily remove the offending file but have, so far, failed.

I installed this little nightmare but didn't set it up, yet whenever I log in to my Mac the Keylemon panel appears asking me to enter my password.
There's a Data folder that appears empty because it contains an invisible file.
It's a real bitch to completely uninstall this app.
I'd say that the developer is totally irresponsible for making the trial download
difficult to uninstall (and without warning the user before hand).
I didn't find the FAQ at the developer's website regarding uninstalling Keylemon terribly helpful.

After installing this Flash version, whenever I go to a page that requires Flash I'm informed that I need to either install it or update to a newer version.
I experienced this identical issue with the previous version.
At Adobe's forum, there are several others reporting this problem although most appear to be on a Windoze platform.
I sure wish there was an alternative to Adobe's Flash.

I've installed the latest Flash version but at ANY website page that requires Flash, I get a notice telling me to install the latest Flash version; I had the same problem w/the last version.
Sure wish that there was a workable alternative to Adobe Flash....Sure wish that Adobe would just go away, disappear altogether.

Is there a non Adobe alternative to Flash? I'd sure be delighted to get Adobe out my life.
