TeXnicle is an awesome app. I have been trying various LaTeX IDEs for OS X, and always coming back to just using emacs. TeXnicle is the first graphical environment that I find really convenient. The live update is a killer feature.

In comparison, TeXmaker has memory leaks and was horrnedously slow on my larger documents, and looks rather bad on a HiDPI display; TeXshop has a bug that prevents changing the font color, so you can't have a dark theme, and it's a mess of floating windows; TeXworks looks the worse on a HiDPI screen, even the editor's font looks gross. It also uses floating windows.

All these competing programs may be older, but they all appear to me as less feature-rich than TeXnicle, or if some may have more bells and whistles, they are not necessarily the most useful ones.

TeXnicle nails what's most useful, while keeping a clean and organized interface. And I didn't hit a serious bug yet.
