PinPoint 3.7.6's "launch on login" option doesn't work on my OS X 10.8.4 iMac system. I've added PinPoint to the launch bar list of programs but I'd rather it started automatically. Any suggestions?

Also, I see that PinPoint is consistently at the top of the Activity monitor's list of active programs, 1-2% CPU time. Seems like a lot of work is done (and electricity used) for what I would have thought was a relatively simple task.

Something's wrong with the version numbers too... below my post it says I'm using 3.7.4 but the downloaded version says it's 3.7.6

I've been using it with the "On while Moving" option, which along with the simple green circle seems to be the least distracting option (I do a lot of typing) while allowing one to locate the cursor quickly when lost.

On balance I like this simple app. I hope they get the "start on boot" option fixed since I also move around between different logins.

I like austerity in an application but this one goes perhaps a bit too far. No help for example.

More pertinently, I haven't been able to take a screen capture... I'm running Mountain Lion so perhaps there's a compatibility problem. All screen copies paste as a solid, colored block - blue or black.

I've installed another screen capture utility and am happy with it, but I'll be curious to see how this one evolves.

A fine app which does exactly what it's supposed to. Easy to install and understand, with lots of tweaks & features for different kinds of screen captures which don't get in your way when you just want to do something simple.

Many thanks to the developer for offering this app for free !

Two PS to him: one of the preferences allows one to add a border to a captured image... how about allowing one to specify the border color? Also, the only bug I've found after several weeks of regular use is the "About SimpleCap" window which doesn't open in the foreground... one has to shuffle around the active windows to find it. Neither is a big deal.

Singlemizer is an excellent and easy-to-use program with an uncluttered interface. I tried the demo versions of several de-duplicators listed here on Macupdate and found myself uncertain as to what the other programs were doing. For an application whose purpose in life is to zap files, certainty is a Good Thing :)

Singlemizer has the notion of a "master" or reference folder (one whose copy is always kept when duplicates are found elsewhere). By default it's the first folder one selects for checking but one can specify it explicitly if needed. If like me one has multiple copies of files scattered over a bunch of external drives, the odd DVD or USB key, and you want to consolidate them into a single collection on your new, auto-backed-up Mac, this simple feature is vastly useful. One of the competing programs didn't have it and I couldn't really tell with the others.

Singlemizer also found duplicates which one of the others didn't. It's a good choice.

Simple, quick and it does what it's supposed to. Seems to work from any application which provides document previews (i.e. not just the Finder).

Many thanks to the developer for spending the time to make this available. I have several thousand scanned accounting documents in Deja Vu format and this makes it much easier to peruse them.

It would indeed, as the previous poster suggested, be helpful if one could view pages after the first (as does the PDF previewer). But having the quick view of one page instead of none is the real benefit :)

I wish Deja Vu facilities were more widely available in standard applications like Adobe, Finder, whatever... it's the best encoding for imaged documents of all kinds and yet creates smaller files than any of the others.

I found this program remarkably and pleasantly lightweight and efficient... just what I was looking for in order to access my humongous IMAP database. (I was specifically looking for something less top-heavy and quirky than Thunderbird... don't even mention the native Apple offering.)

Unfortunately there is not way I've yet found of deleting messages in the ordinary IMAP way, i.e. simply marking them deleted and periodially compacting folders. I'm afraid that makes MailMate unusable for me. I hope these features get added, I'll come back and try it again if they do.
