I updated from FF8.01 to 9.0.
When 9.0 started up it went to this URL http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/9.0/whatsnew/
Which says "Your Firefox is out of date. For security reasons, we recommend upgrading to the latest and greatest version."
I clicked on the hyperlinked text "latest and greatest version" and it took me to the link to download 8.0.1.
Hmmm..... so 9.0 thinks 8.0.1 is "greatest version".

So I surfed over to the official Mozilla Firefox page http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ and it's still showing 8.0.1 for Mac OS X as the latest & greatest.

Did someone jump the gun on 9.0? is 9.0 still a beta?

One suggestion for those wanting to try 9 or about to update to a newer version: Make sure to back up your profile (/users/You/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles) so if things go crazy, you can go back to the previous state.

Anyhow, all my addons work fine. So far no crashes. All is well with "9.0".

I have been testing/using it for about 3 weeks. Seemed stable and could be a useful tool.

1) I sent a email with suggestion to the developer a few weeks ago.
NEVER heard back. NO RESPONSE at all.

2) Description says "This beta version is usable until 30-Nov-2011. An updated beta will be released before then so that you may continue using it. "

It's 11/29/11 and it won't let me use it. Went to the developer's site to download and there was no new version. Same problem on MacUpdate.

Wondering if this developer is serious about this app.

BUYERS BEWARE: Think carefully before spending the $8.99 for this app - if the developer plans to follow through and charge that amount for this app.

I'd like to follow up on my previous comment:

1) Version 0.97 is very stable. Stability was not a problem when I tried before either.

2) The feature I find most useful and most used is the "Move and Resize" (shown in the Preferences > Window Layout).
It's so amazing having the ability to move a window many layers behind the front window without having to bring it to the front. It's great to take a quick peek at some background info while you're typing something in the front most window.

3) It may be a little bit overwhelming at first if you enable all the features (Quick Draw Snap, Layout Hotkeys). You may want to disabled them at first then enable them one at time later.

4) Hisham (the developer) responded to me below and he incorporated a "feature" request. It's working very well. THANK YOU!!

If you try this app for a couple weeks, chances are you may not be able to use the Mac without it. It has a good chance of being added to the list of my must-have tools.

The beta v.3.8b4 was nice and worked well on my G5 but it expired 5/31/11.
Nothing newer on Boinx website
http://www.boinx.com/fotomagico/beta/

Does anyone know if a new beta version is available?
Boinx folks?

Thanks in advance....

I'm not sure why this great app has 2 stars so I'm sharing my experience with other MacUpdate users....
It's a long one......

MY GOAL: I've been on a long search for a good app to produce slide shows to be played on pro-sumer DVD players or by upscaling to 720p or 10280p and seen on HDTV's.

APPS TRIED BUT NOT HAPPY WITH:
I tried PowerPoint - quality is good only when played in PowerPoint on a pc or mac; picture quality is horrible when exported and burned to a DVD.
I also tried Slick Motion, Still Life (before HDTV days), iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, Photo To Movie (colors shifted after exported to DVD), Pulp Motion - or combination of the above -- They all had poor picture quality by the time I got a slide show on DVD.
I was very disappointed when I viewed my slide shows on TV or HDTV (played on a DVD player).

FOUND MY ANSWER: I recently tried version 3.7.3 on my friend's G5.
I also have a G5 but don't have FotoMagico Pro yet - I'd consider buying it next time there's a MacUpdate bundle.

MY FIRST PROJECT WITH FOTOMAGICO: a slide show about 30 minutes long with about 240 pictures and some short movie clips. This was my process:
1) Started the project. Setting = "Present on "HDTV (720)".
2) Edited slide show with motion, transitions, titles, narrations, etc.
3) Done. Export setting = "Share my slideshow as "DVD"
4) Came back the next day it was ready....
5) Burned the .mov file onto DVD in Toast.

FEATURES: *****
I used and liked drag & drop, movie support, motion (zoom, scale, rotate); iPhoto & iTunes Library integration, multiple audio tracks, narration recorder, adjust color, export as DVD, export to HD Movie.

EASY OF USE: ******
I found FotoMagico very easy and intuitive to use. I didn't need to read any instructions and was able to do motion with static pictures - a lot of people like that "cool KenBurn thingie"!

SLIDE SHOW QUALITY: *****
I burned the slide show on a DVD-R and it was played on my G5, MacBookPro, 62"HDTV, digital slide projector, multiple consumer and pro-sumer DVD players.

The image quality was CRISP and SHARP!!!!!
I was so happy to finally see the pictures in motion the way I expected!!
I also received many compliments for the slide show!!!

G5 SUPPORT: *****
I'm so glad this software still works on a G5 running 10.5.8.
It never crashed during my project.

PRICE:***
I have to agree with some other reviewers that the price for the Pro version is a bit steep - it's out of my reach at this time - and I do need Multiple Audio Tracks, narration, audio ducking, export to HD movie.

Hey these Boinx guys need their pizzas and beer to make the software.
It cost me a few pizzas and cases of beer to try it on my friend's G5 & FotoMagico.

I hope Boinx won't drop support for G5 anytime soon, especially with Lion lurking around recently.

THANKS for a great software and again for supporting G5 users!!!!

Version 0.9.5:
Page says "PPC/Intel" but the MU links and the Developer's website only have Intel-64bit and Intel-32bit.

Please update the MU page to remove the "PPC" and only show Platform = "Intel" only.

Since rev 1.1.1, it stopped working. I keep getting spinning beach ball every time I drag something into its window to be scanned.

JAlbum (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/12793)

is FREE and has many feature.
I just create a web catalog of clickable thumbnails of 23,000 pictures. NO PROBLEM at all. The latest version also utilizes multiple processors if you such a Mac.

I looked at 5-6 different apps and JAlbum is simple the best!

-Wish list: "PRINT" function. I tried to print a couple of screenshots (jpg) and it wasn't there. I had to "Open With" Preview to print. Sort of inconvenient.

Still a great tool.
