I performed an "over the air" update shortly after iOS 7.1 was released (iPhone 4S, 64GB). I left the phone on the desk near the router and came back 20 minutes later to find the phone unresponsive. Pressing the buttons repeatedly did little to start the OS. The phone finally came to life after pressing and holding the Hold and Home buttons together. However the phone then went into an endless loop of start and shutdown. I put the phone into restore mode and connected it to iTunes for a restore. The server returned errors repeatedly until I finally gave up and went searching the net for a manual download of the update file (http://www.iphonehacks.com/2014/03/download-ios-7-1.html)... I found it, dropped into ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates/ and began the restore process again. After a full restore of 7.1 and all previously synced settings and apps the phone came on. Unfortunately it was short lived and the screen went black again for no reason... I was able to get the phone back into restore mode and connect to iTunes again. I removed the manually downloaded firmware file and tried to restore the process again hoping the server would work this time. It did work, it downloaded the exact same file that I had manually downloaded earlier. I allowed iTunes to restore the phone to 7.1 however I did not allow the previous settings and 997 apps to be restored from a previous backup. SUCCESS... I'm happy to report that the phone is now perfect and better than before. I'm loving the snap and new look of iOS 7.1. I summised the problem to have something to do with the "restore from previous backup" process... perhaps there were too many apps to deal with. I spend a couple of hours re-downloading my most used apps and reconfiguring the settings... but other than than, it's all good now.... phew! Moral of my story: Nuke and Pave, Purge and Streamline!

I purchased an EyeTV Hybrid... I easily installed the software using the intuitive setup wizard. I let the auto channel detector run it's process... I watched TV on my Mac... that's it. I've been watching and recording shows on my Mac for a year now without any of the issues mentioned on MacUpdate. So far the software/hardware just work so I don't, but that's a good thing, right? I've used the A/V adapter cables to import video from VHS and it works flawlessly. To all who are debating an EyeTV purchase... buy it, you won't regret it. Take it from someone who has tested every aspect of the system.

oops... the sentence above should read: So far the software/hardware just work so I haven'y needed to contact support, therefore I can't speak to its quality, but that's a good thing, right?

As you were.

Don't get me wrong here... I like and respect this developer. Calibre is a great piece of software. However it's probably better for his reputation to stockpile the inconsequential fixes. Firefox and VueScan are also notorious for this. I surmised years ago that VueScan updated so often in order to retain a presence on MacUpdate's front page or any other popular site for that matter... kind of like those dancing pizza sign guys! Anyhoo, even Craigslist makes you wait more than a week before they'll let you repost to the front page again otherwise people abuse the FREE service for personal gain. I'm really not bothered by it, I just wish I wasn't so darn obsessed with keeping my software current. Play nice boys.

My use of the term "front page" wasn't meant to be taken literally, just a quickie slang to convey: "towards the top". Side note, If you have a special trick to reposting the same Craigslist ad more than once per week... I'm all ears. My truck could really use more "front page" exposure.

Thanks for the CR repost info. I have an account but the "repost" button only appears after a week. If I do delete then repost, I'm alerted that the new ad resembles a past deleted ad and asks if I want to reactivate it to the same cruddy position is was in when I deleted it last. I've use workarounds but it's to time consuming to be worth it. Probably not the best thread to be discussing this though.

Well... it's a great idea... that doesn't seem to work on my new iMac... or at least I can't figure it out. Mac Apps should be self explanatory if little or no instruction is written for it. I downloaded and launched the app, registered with email address and password, sent several beacons from top menu, signed onto web page to see my location. Map is blank. If I didn't know better, I'd wonder if this isn't anything more than a Mac locater made available by clever thieves to rip me off. Think about it, once you register, the developer knows where you live and what you own. I might suggest to the developer that he make himself more transparent by offering contact info rather than a single login page. Would give appearance of credibility and validate the app.

Update... after 20 minutes a map marker appeared on the map... however it appeared 75 KMS away from my location. This app is nothing more than cute but I'll keep tabs for improvements.

This utility is a must have. I would have expected something like this to already be included with OS X. Thank you developer. I use this at home for baking (among other things)... as well as at the office for reminders. Love it.

I have a massive iTunes Library (2000 full length CD's, @ Apple Lossless)... I have been dragging my external around with me to play music at events... wow, this should makes things more convenient! However, it does raise the question of whether I must set my Mac to "never sleep" in order to access my music? (I think yes). Plus, will my monthly internet upload/download be exceeded? (I think yes) Hmmm, perhaps I'll look into this more!

Why re-invent the wheel?
Apple and Microsoft have the resourses and money to develope software superior to any free/shareware. Sorry, but why mess around with wet sand and a stick when the real deal was mastered years ago. My advise to any program hobbiest would be to write software never before seen... ie: www.spooftel.com... now that's cool!

Fantastic finder navigation! Love the concept.
However folder contents do not update for me.
I export to PDF out of InDesign to a folder and those PDF's do not show using Path Finder.
As well as when I change a folder name, it will not show the new name but it will show the new name when using the Apple Finder. Bueller... Bueller?
