Unable to download the 1.0.5 update. When clicking on download link it just redirects me to this download page. Tried to download update at developer's web site but get the same issue. The download link just leads back to the download page and nothing downloads. My rating is basically for the 1.0.4 version I was able to download.

Was able to download the 1.0.5 update by using Install with MacUpdate Desktop. But this only works if you've bought the MacUpdate Desktop app.

Program locked computer when I left but would not unlock it on my return. No guide with program so had to learn how to use it by trial and error. May be the cause of it not working for me.

This happened every time but the 1st time I tried Guardian Angel. May be related to how long I left the computer room? Will try it again at different lengths to see if time is a factor. Will report on that later in a reply.

As to how to make it clearer to use, could write a short instruction RTF document downloadable with the program. Most programs have such a file in a folder with the app. For example, I thought when 1st setting up the app. it needs a way to tell the program how long before it locks. Found the slider only by pushing the Edit button which is not clear - what are you editing? I would label the button as "Preferences" and the slider as "Time To Lock" or something to that effect to make it clearer.

The "Setting" button shows instructions of functions of settings. Maybe you could put the sliders under "Settings" with a little greyed explanation underneath each?

Also, when I click on the "Turn On" button, Guardian Angel started looking for a device. What is this about and the "Select Device" button? There's no information on what kind of device it's looking for or why. It doesn't find any device so is that the problem?

Thanks for the quick response to my initial rating of your program.

Tried different time between leaving room and returning from 10 min. to 30 min. and Guardian Angel failed to unlock every time.

Got ya (;-) But what kind of device are we talking about? An iPod, iPad, mouse, etc? The banner for this app. says it will lock your Mac and unlock it when you return. Neither the banner nor the description say anything about having to have a "device" attached to the Mac. When the app. searches for a device it does not find any. Please clarify - thanks.

I see how it works now. There's no explanation about this so I had to come up with an explanation on my own about how it works. I thought maybe it used the iSight camera built into my iMac and recognized changes in that. And that the "Desired Range" changed how big a difference in the iSight camera picture was needed to lock and unlock your computer. You're right - now that would be something. I'd even pay for it!

Very nice app - nice that it's free. Has more features than TotalFinder, like colored icons in the side bar. With TotalFinder, the function of dropping a file from one tab to another and having the 2nd tab open stopped working. But this feature works fine in XtraFinder. The only problem I've run into is that XtraFinder (like TotalFinder) slows down my system and I get the beach ball frequently which lasts for up to a minute before everything starts working again.

It worked at first but then stopped working even through restarts of TotalFinder 1.4.8 app. and system 10.8.2. Got the beach ball in TotalFinder too - maybe because these apps. add another layer on top of Apple's Finder?

SpamSurfer. Last post to this subject unless someone has a really valid point. The requirements state, "Intel, Mac OS X 10.6 or later," so I'm not ignorant enough to try to run on PPC (or a Windose PC which it wouldn't run at all [see 2nd Twizard reply in this thread for my system info]). You have good holidays, too.
