The two reviews below are obviously from the developer. They registered the same day (Aug 03) and voted on the same two apps from the same developer (Security Focus Europe). They didn't even bother to write a different text lol (look at ArpGuard).

Don't buy this crap software, the developer think you are stupid and want to sell you this worthless piece of junk for a ridiculous price of $9.99.

The catalog btree on one of my HFS fileystems got wrecked, resulting in a unrecoverable situation by normal means. As I had very important files on that filesystem (a few years worth of photos) I desperately tried both DiskWarrior, Data Rescue and Techtool among a few. None of them could get me back my files.

Enter Mac Data Recovery. Never heard about it, found some mentions after searching the fsck output on google. Saw the poor reviews on MU but decided to give it a go anyways. Boy am I happy I did! This program presented me with a list of the files with original filenames and let me restore them quickly! The deep recovery option was impressively fast.

I never had to contact support, so I can't really comment on that. However, I think it's unfair to rate the program half a star when you didn't even try it like the guy below. Customer support isn't one of the criteria, it would be better to write as a comment, no?

Excellent piece of software, I use it to capture my system audio and send to my media player. That way I can play Spotify, Youtube, etc. on my stereo system.

Wish it had a nicer icon though :)

Sorry if I came out to harsh in my review, that wasn't my intention. I looked around for a way to contact you, and I registered on your tracker to post the same findings there, just didn't get around to do that. The version I was using was 0.4.1. For anyone reading this, the author has contacted me directly on mail I'll help him out with any information I have there.

Just reading about it and looking at the screenshots I decided on buying this software. Being written in Cocoa and boasting 64 bit support with memory caching I was surprised about it being this slow. SABnzbd is written in python and uses about 20-30% CPU when downloading with 20 connections. NZBVortex is using 50-120% CPU downloading the same NZB! I also had it crash when adding the same NZB twice, and the GUI seems a bit unresponsive.

Here's some features it is lacking as well:

- Automatic downloading of nzb's in your download folder
- Automatic downloading of bookmarks from newzbin.com
- Queue manipulation through CLI or web interface
- Custom post processing scripts

Right now I feel a bit cheated as I'm forced to go back to SABnzbd. It has great potential if the author can work these things out though, Cocoa should be able to be more lightweight than a Python program. There should be a trial mode though, not being limited to 2 connections, so people can see the performance before they buy.

This should be added as well:

- Custom temp and finished downloads folders (don't like seeing the downloads appear until they are finished)
- Support for several Usenet servers

I'd rather pay for a punch in the face than this useless software.

Who in their right mind would pay for this? Useless software is useless.

Does this thing work well as an NZB downloader? I'm using SABnzbd now and I'm very happy with it, does this do anything better/worse?

This is a crappy update considering what Playback/Medialink is doing...
