I was looking for some intermediate app between font management and text processors, part for fun, part for work (proofreader / layouter né multi-language linguist).
It fills some gaps I was aware of and some others – e.g. quick comparison of fonts side by side.
As an example, I'm looking for fonts which are legible in some specific areas, e.g. a lower single quote for ‚Deutscher Text‘ distinguished from comma, or a nice set of dashes.
Frankly, the outline mode showing defining points and tangents is good enough a reason to get it.
Major obstacle: no demo.

It still works like a charm.
4 stars rather than 5 because it'd be nice to simplify the setup, say, by choosing from running apps.

Last year I thought it'd be a good idea to switch to some Nu Kit, which was de facto abandoned.

That said, Apptivate appears to be abandoned, too, i.e. Cocoabeans appears to have gone offline some time ago :(

Just a quick comment: 2.6.2 and 2.7.2 work – as far as I can tell – quite okay on 10.7 (Lion).

The "vers. 2.7.2 - 10.5" above refers to the last version that works on Leopard.
Just in case, anyone suspects the devs of anything. Still providing the last free version is fine, thanks.

If anyone needs to tame Handbrake's consumption of CPU power:
1. Choose some preset.
2. At the end of the Advanved Option String on the Advanced tab, add :threads=2 or whatever fits your needs and system (threads = cores as I understand it).
3. And obviously, save the new preset for reuse.

I just saw a complaint/request with 12 cores on page 2, which got me to adopt it again for 2 out of 4 cores.
I first needed that option with my good old MacBook who literally couldn't take the heat of full CPU power anymore, even after cleaning etc.

For anyone who might reserve some more CPU power to other processes:

I needed it first with my good old MacBook, which after cleaning etc. literally overheated at >60% CPU.

Yeah, double post. I didn't see this, so I added it once more.

Just a quick comment on the rating:
The search list has the overall stars (around 4), while this page uses the present rating for v15 – amounting to three ratings, one by monkeyjunkey [sic!] clicking the same rating for two versions.

@MJ: You're right. It's just kinda ridiculous with Chrome/ium and the like.
Btw, I didn't use or endorse SRware – I was just curious what it was. Chromium has become my favorite browser.

Price is up to $14.95 as of now.
Makes it less compelling to try if I use (and paid for) CCC.

That is not to imply at all IB isn't worth it.

And I just love healthy competition & comparison – I just realized CCC includes an option to backup to password-protected disk images.

Does what I want, i.e. 'only' downloading for Safari and other browsers.

By the way, if anyone's wondering about the not really stellar overall rating of 3.5 stars: the 1-star ratings are on page start on page 3 or 4, back in 2005. iGetter never got to v.3, so it's all accumulated since I-don't-know-how-early.

I guess they're already working on it.
Ironically, for me, 1.0.3 introduced an issue with Cmd-Tab, appearing too often too early.

And yes, I filed a bug report – well this sentence – with the devs.

Welcome Lifehacker readers and good luck!
Recently featured over there, but I guess I'm shy and stick with Growl etc.

The site has been down for some days.
I hope Tim gets it back up. It seems to sell well and it's so close to be fully functional.

@MacUpdate: hope this is the right place - is their a proper feedback site?

Your download link doesn't work with FF 4. I get to the following page (http://dl.mailmate-app.com/MailMate.tbzMailMate.tbz):

Well, thanks!
When Mailmate informed me of build 1902, I wasn't aware it was the magical 1.0.
Congrats!
