I've just uninstalled SDL for the second time, which is a shame as it's an app I really used to like and would like to keep using. It's just been too flaky an experience relying on SDL for my downloads — the icing on the cake being that it crashed when I went to the Yazsoft site to download the uninstaller.

For some balance, this is was, and can be, a tremendously useful application with the ability to provide consistency across browsers and to automatically file downloads accoring to type. Since the release of 10.7 it has been launching inconsistently despite all my best efforts to trace the problem and use the email and forum available as a registered user.

I see that Yazsoft still has the Speed Download forums locked and this suggests (to me at least) that I am not alone.

This has always been one of my favourite applications and I previously participated in the 4.0 beta program.

Since I have had problems with my licence I have contacted Before Dawn Solutions many times but with no response to date.

The app is available through the app store. I'm sure it's just as good as it was before the acquisition by before Dawn. I would just voice some concern over the developer's ability to support this app.

skEdit have now been in touch with me and they have apparently made e a change to the site because, for some reason the mail wasn't getting through as it should be.

A fantastic application - Spotlight on steroids!

I cannot praise this application enough. It's a great combination of features (quick look, PathFinder support), speed and usability. The developer is very responsive.

While I wasn't particularly bothered by the developers' post regarding FF3 updates I did get fed up that Firefox support looks like it is not a priority and also that OmniWeb did not sync particularly well IME.

Bookdog seems a much more powerful alternative.

I may be forced to eat my words.

As far as I can see this version is PowerPC and Tiger only so I won't try it on my MacIntel yet.

I decided to take the new option for "hiding the Dock Icon by compromising its functionality"

Much happier to have this app behaving as I believe something in the menu bar should. Thanks to the developer for responding to the feedback - however reluctantly.

Like other reviewers here, I am wary of recommending this application because of the ping and curl requests it sends out. I have tried to contact the developer to ask why this is necessary on the basis that if I understood what was happening I would continue to use the app. I have never had a response so I use this app as little as possible, consider it to be seriously flawed and could not recommend it unless one had a pressing need for something of this type.

I reckon that there is an opportunity here for a nice little app to clear Mac-specific files from removable media before ejecting. I constantly use media that will be used on Windows or other FAT formatted devices and find it frustrating to see these ‘hidden' files.

I thought I would make this a review rather than a comment to start to move the rating down. Something that must be due now that this fine application appears to be abandoned.

CTVD was without doubt the finest virtual desktop application for OS X. The fact that it broke with each major update to the OS could have been forgiven had they been able to support the application and update accordingly. Now that it seems to be beyond recovery it looks like the end of the line.

Codetek (Bill?) are still promising a new version it would appear but this looks increasingly like a fantasy.

I really thought that this was a great idea in theory but when I looked at the size of the PDF files produced found them significantly larger than those produced using the native OS X options to print to PDF.

I the end the convenience was outweighed by the increased file sizes.
