In "unregistered" mode you can scan up to 500 photos. This is certainly sufficient to make a buying decision.

It is a small program and it runs quickly and quietly - nice!

Options for the disposition of duplicates are useful and understandable. I was looking for one more thought, that of moving the photo to the system trash. Instead, it remains in the iPhoto trash and your only choice is to leave it there or delete it in iPhoto. This was never something that I liked about iPhoto and it is not something that Duplicate Annihilator should be faulted for.

I found changing the comments to "duplicate" or "original" as a good alternative to deleting photos. It gives you a chance to review your photos one more time in case there is a problem.

The "Find and annihilate duplicates" button is somewhat understated but that is a style opinion. It could be bigger/more colorful.

This is a great time saver - I think I'll buy it!

I have tested CLAMav and Sophos against the same directory of files and Sophos finds the files where CLAMav doesn't.

The file in question is infected with the Mal/DrodZp-A virus.

Note that the test performed was conducted using the most recently available virus definition file for both progams.

Note also that this virus is not new. It's been around for a year or so.

Update: When I moved the offending email message and attachment to the mail trash, ClamXav detected the virus!

It did not, however, detect it when it was in the Mail Downloads folder.

Go figure.

This program is fast to learn, easy to use and fun! I recommend it to the 90% of everyone who wants to edit audio. The other 10% are welcome to buy other packages for whatever reason they feel it necessary. Thank you Dominic!!!

Thanks for the tip, oh wise old owl.

However, this app gives you separate volume controls for all inputs and outputs. This is great when you have your Mac wired to your audio system, headphones or different microphones.

What a great idea! This app has real potential.
It is straightforward and well behaved (except for one thing).

How often are the prices updated from the source? Are they on a 20 minute delay like Yahoo?

Oh, the one thing? Well, I entered all the companies in one order and then found that I could drag rows to sort them in another order (btw, a column sort would be fab!). I moved a few lines and then the program went south and never came back. Had to kill it.

Another neat feature would be to have a column for the acquisition cost.

Good point on the buys and sells. After all this is not a portfolio tracker.
As for the program hanging, it was totally unresponsive. I couldn't get a drop down menu or activate the main window either, even after letting it stay in that state for 10 minutes or so. The only way out was to force quit it.

First of all, the purge only frees disk cache memory - not system memory per se.

Second, just go to the terminal and type "purge" or "purge ram".

Tor's Vidalia looks pretty good and the usability is a pretty close to Safari, Firefox, etc.

Importing bookmarks is very simple and fast. Preferences are many and you should look at them to make sure that they are set the way you want them to be set. You have great power here.

Performance is slow. Glacial sometimes. Watch the lower left of the browser window to see all of the activity going on. I attribute this to the additional latency introduced by going through proxy/anonymizing servers.

It relaunched the Finder just as documented. Then Finder crashes as soon as you go to open a new Finder window. Want the crash logs?

Anthony, you will have to use the terminal program to delete the components that were installed. Here is the text from the installer that documents where the components are installed:

By default, SideEffects will install the following components:

SIMBL
/Library/ScriptingAdditions

ColorfulSidebar
/Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins

RelaunchFinder (or RelaunchTotalFinder)
/Applications/RelaunchFinder.app

PowerboxInjector
/Applications/PowerboxInjector.app

SideEffects will update Login Items to make RelaunchFinder.app run when the computer is restarted of if a user logs out and in again.

You will have to switch to your root user to make these deletions.

Anthony,
Use SPOTLIGHT (the magnifying glass on the top right of your menu bar) to search for TERMINAL. You will see it listed next to the Applications label. Once in you can su root and rm -R the SIMBL file (actually a directory) and the ColorfulSidebar file (actually a directory). Good luck and be careful.

Aquarium-live-lite plays a video of fish. It fades between scenes and it is very colorful. The resolution is beautiful on my 27" screen. The download is only 93.5MB not 935MB as listed here. (someone should fix that).

It is either on or off - and will display in a window or full screen.

If you like aquaria, this is great because you don't have to clean the filters or change the water.

@BirdiCode: I already submitted the crash log at your site. I did that yesterday. I hope you find it.

As for the half-star rating, I should have rated it 0 stars because it crashes immediately. I am not the only one to experience this. I will be glad to evaluate it when it runs properly.

It looks like Safari and Mail quit unexpectedly - actually happens when nothing else is going on.

I turn off Smart Scroll and the crashing ends.

I'll be glad to forward my crash logs.

This is a slick little program but it fails on file names that contain question marks and radio stations!

Keep up the good work!
