Count me among the many 2.x users who have been left cold by the 3.x update. I've defended Mailplane and it's pricing in the past on places such as this, but now my own experience with 3.0 also seems to be that it doesn't offer much in the way of anything significantly new.

Today, my existing 2.5.x install of Mailplane is locked out of Gmail due to an endless login loop, and I don't think I can expect a fix anytime soon. I sadly don't have much inclination to upgrade, especially with them discontinuing 2.x development.

I find it really annoying that this is still on MacUpdate, even though it is completely a webapp. There is no desktop client to download, or app to install; the fruux staff who've commented on this argue that they still support their old prefpane, but there's no clear link to download it anywhere on their site. By extension, should MU list all webapps on their site?

This entry pretty much amounts to linkspam, as it misleads users into signing up for their service when they may have been expecting a desktop app-based system. Sad.

For anyone curious about what's happened with Ecoute, in so many words, Apple's ridiculous policies with Sandboxing pretty much screwed over PixiApps with Ecoute. I'm sorry to see this happen, and I'm starting to fear that this may very well be the end of Ecoute. Ugh.

I got the email yesterday. Sigh. Figures. Just when Sparrow finally got good and useful for me. R.I.P. Sparrow - and F.U., Google.

"...D2X-XL...removed all robot makers from a level when loading it..."

Heh, I'd call that a feature, not a bug.

For anyone interested, this latest version of CrossOver incorporates the changes made in the latest version of WINE (1.4). Some classic gems like Fallout, Fallout 2, and even Shogo: Mobile Armor Division and Blood 2: The Chosen all work well. (Disclaimer: I was a beta tester for this version of CrossOver.)

For anyone tempted by the current Steam sale of Limbo (50% off until Jan. 3rd) the Mac port of Limbo is supported under SteamPlay, and will be coming to Steam in early January 2012. (January 12th, if what I've read is correct.)

I've just rediscovered this game after purchasing it many moons ago over at the Mac Game Store. This UNITY-based first/third person shooter is a simplistic game, but it's old-school arcade-style mechanic makes the game unexpectedly rather addictive, as you try over and over to beat your best score. The controls are crisp, and the graphical style is quite nice. Overall it's a great and satisfying little indie shooter that's good for blowing off some steam during work breaks.

Just as a heads up, this needs either the original Transport Tycoon Deluxe data files (from the MS-DOS CD-ROM release), or the open source replacement data files (OpenGFX, OpenSFX, and OpenMSX), available from the OpenTTD website.

So...how does registration work? Does this come with a ridiculous activation limit the way SRS iWow did? Has JoeSoft charged for incremental releases (again, like with SRS iWow)? The MUPromo bundle has gotten me really interested in Hear but after having been burned with SRS iWow, I'm a little apprehensive.

Is this for Leopard only? I followed the standard procedure to install preference panes for Camino, but it won't load up. I'm using 2.0b3 with 10.4.11.

Sadly, this version simply doesn't work on 10.4.11 (on a C2D MacBook 2 GB RAM/2 Ghz).

The main window can't be shown, all of the menus don't work, and bottom half WhatSize's application menu is completely blank (as in no text, just an empty menu).

1.2 crashes on startup for me, while 1.1 worked before. 10.4.11, MacBook Pro C2D 2.16 Ghz/2 GB RAM. I can send a crash log if it might be helpful.

(Disclaimer: I do run APE, and 1.1 did crash until I set APE to exclude Scribblet, whereupon it worked fine afterwards.)

For some reason which I can't understand, this plugin won't appear in Growl's list of display styles, even after a removal and reinstallation of the preference pane.

I'm guessing a .plist or something somewhere is corrupted or isn't working right, but I don't know what it could be.

Hi Niklas,

I am able to get it running, but the way the notification window is rendered is all wonky...it's rendered in large text with large icons on a totally transparent background.

I'm wondering if this might be a WebKit issue - this is on a 700 Mhz G3 iBook w/10.4.10 (incidentally, this works fine on an MBP).

Edit: My apologies for my mistake, the actual app running on startup which is PPC is Privoxy, not Vidalia.
