Only download drivers from the Epson site. I run Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Apple releases new drivers that are for the latest OS. i.e. Mountain Lion. The frustrating part is trying to find out if you need them.

It is strange that between Epson and Apple, they cannot follow Adobe's example ...who's site reads your OS, then determines which version of their program you have "Flash or Reader", and decides if you need to update.

The couple of times I've tried Apple's printer drivers for Epson the result was disastrous printing problems.

I wrote Epson and they said ONLY use drivers from their site, but they wouldn't tell me if I needed to update.
I couldn't rate features below with 1 star ...this page wouldn't allow it. But that's my rating.

Often Apple is behind in updates for 3rd party software and for anything not apple, the Apple automatic update can actually put an obsolete version on your machine.

For anything Apple ...or java ...Software update is a great and easy to use feature.
