Am I missing something here? Why would you pay $13 for software that records audio and attaches it to an e-mail?

Mac OS X not only has recording software built in (QuickTime Player X), but it also has speech-to-text built in (including a new offline mode) so you can dictate without making your recipients deal with an audio file.

There are multiple instances, as recently as last year, where LogMeIn said the free service would remain free. Although the desktop client is free, many of us paid $30 for the mobile app to use the free service.

Now, with zero notice, LogMeIn is breaking their promise and eliminating the free service. So far, they have not offered refunds to people who wasted money on the expensive and now-worthless app.

This company has no ethics and is rumored to be desperate and on the verge of bankruptcy.

Parallels claims to offer a 30-day money back guarantee on their products. I bought a version of Parallels several years ago that was completely nonfunctional, asked for my money back within 30 days, and they simply refused.

Since I admit this was not recent, I am just writing this as a comment, rather than giving Parallels the permanent one star that I think it deserves. However, please think twice before you give them your money.

I guess I'm going to make what might be a controversial statement: I like this software.

I used other scanners to try to organize my receipts, and it was pretty much a disaster. Many couldn't scan the full length of register receipts, and they also came with software from other vendors that did not allow you to download updates from that vendor.

Neat is the only scanner/software combo that has actually turned my huge pile of receipts into a simple, organized database. It is simple and accurate. Recent updates have corrected some of the issues people have had (it is now possible to scan multiple pages to one file), and it is amazing to watch the software automatically figure out where a receipt is from, the amount of the receipt, and the method of payment. If the receipt is in good condition, the accuracy is amazing. You can then sort the receipts and create reports using the data.

Having said that, I don't like NeatCloud. I already paid for the scanner, and it is not worth paying an annual fee to have access to the receipts on my iPhone. There is no way to sync them directly from your Mac to your iPhone either.

It would probably be a good idea to rename this, because of the trademark issue. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I'm just saying Texas Instruments' lawyers probably will be, if they get ahold of you.

The number one "new feature" is bug fixes and decreased CPU utilization - and yet existing users have to pay 100% of full price? Are you serious?

The $3.99 price is not an upgrade price. It is available to everyone. It is more like an "extortional price" because if existing users don't shell out full price now, full price gets even higher in a month. But the price is the same for everyone now, and the price will be the same (higher amount) for everyone in a month. There is no upgrade discount now or ever.

If you concede the version 1 was "never reliable or productive," you should refund everyone who ever bought it.

In my tests, I found that 2.0a4 is not GateKeeper-signed and can't read files from the previous version. I'm not sure if this alpha is quite ready for the public.

I don't know if you changed it on purpose, but the English word is actually spelled "playwright."

Weird, huh?

With Google killing Google Reader, I'm definitely interested in new RSS options, especially ones that have a syncing capability and an iOS app.

Thus I was especially excited when I read this app was free and includes syncing - but I was disappointed to learn that those two things are mutually exclusive. That is, the syncing service costs $20/year. I think that price is reasonable, but I feel like the labeling is misleading.

It might be helpful to word the description as something like "For SOME mid-2010 and early-2011 MacBook Pros." I know I should have read the fine print more carefully, but I have an early-2011 MacBook Pro, and I was initially baffled why I couldn't find the update. (It doesn't apply to 13-inch models.)

Is version 7.0.5 available outside of China?

I have an iPhone 5S and an iPad mini 2, and they can't see the update.

Is anyone else not able to get DockView working on Mavericks? It just crashes on launch. Yes, I went into System Preferences->Accessibility and granted access to DockView.

I don't understand which is newer/better. I have the 2.2.0.49b build from when it was available. Am I supposed to "upgrade" to 2.2.0.39b?

Am I really the only one who is having tremendous problems with Speed Download under Leopard?? It simply quits without warning over and over, sometimes staying open for only a few seconds before it crashes AGAIN.

I have updated to the latest version, run the "compatibility script," and re-installed the latest version, and none of this fixed the problems.

I'm trying to figure out if this program is the cause of a particular issue that I've just identified. If you are using Screenography and your disk space seems to be vanishing, you might try opening the Terminal and typing

cd ~/Desktop; rm ./.QT*

I can't 100% guarantee that this won't delete any data you actually needed, but I'm pretty sure it is just partially cached data that was never fully processed.

I've had a longstanding problem that I finally tracked back to this program... I call it "iTunes sinking," where sometimes, when you hide the iTunes window when switching to another application - and then you can never get the window to show again no matter what you do, even though iTunes has not crashed and can be sent AppleScript commands.

If you are having this issue, turn off OS9 Window Behavior in X-Assist.

I'm glad I didn't have to get rid of the program altogether - I still really like it. I'm just posting this in case others are having this problem.
