The number one attraction with MPlayerX is remembering playback position. This is a great feature as is auto-selecting of the next episode.

Beyond that there's a striking list of drawbacks, like these minuses:

- Constant massive audio sync issues on older machines like 2.2ghz Core2Duo, even though VLC play back the same material and even 1080p spotlessly without dropped frames.
- inability to support DVD menus properly. Which ironically makes selecting episodes more or less impossible.
- inability to properly list subtitles according to the correct language code or language name for that matter. Which make it a hard job to select the one you want.

I'm of course happy that MPlayerX is still around and it's certainly the best MPlayer. But I've lost hope any of those minuses will be improved upon.
I only use MplayerX on learning materials and similar of lesser quality that it can play properly and where the playback position is great to have.

MPlayerX is great to have as an alternative, but it's not the bread and butter app for video it could be, if only.

I have to give minbox a low grade as it keeps crashing after a long time but not before the first upload is finished. Combine this with the inability to resume after the crash and you have pretty much useless app for a good service in theory.

I can't live with theories alone even though I appreciate the effort.

Adobe Flash Player certainly isn't perfect but allows me to play the content that I need and that isn't available in other formats, at 2.800 kbps, 30 fps with no lost frames at fullscreen on a 7-year old 2.2Ghz machine running OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 ( I can't test faster as my connection is only 5-8mbit).

Technically that is not bad and allow me to enjoy great content. I base my rating on that but have to knock one star off because of repeating security concerns and the occasional glitch on some sites.

Without ClicktoFlash in Safari and similar solutions in Chrome I'd be lost of course. I look forward to the day when my content providers can choose more modern solutions as they've done for handhelds.

Espresso is certainly not bad and you can do some serious html/css/javascript stuff in it. I do lack a better overview of ftp connections though. While Espresso did upload properly it won't make a listing for me to verify I can see everything nor do I see a log anywhere.

Also, there doesn't seem to be an obvious way to add language constructs, like HTML5 data attributes or template languages. SASS? Compass? I suppose I can get Codekit for that, but I'm not certain Espresso will fit well into my workflows.

If you need something that works for pure HTML/CSS-oriented sites Espresso is probably very nice.

I'm saving the money for Macaws, however, even if it's something else it's the results that counts.

Works in a very flexible compatible way in OS X Mavericks 10.9.1, at least for web publishing. Free or donation. What's not to like?

StackSocial has a current bundle including Flux 4 with a name your own price tag and 100% going ot charity.

If i hadn't already checked out Flux 4 I would have a go at it.

Seems far too simple for my needs, though if your needs are modest this may be a simple and useful tool.

RescueTime is very useful to me even when used as a free service. Though if you need off machine time tracking with RescueTime you have to pay $72 or so per year.

Indispensable. I'm looking into getting Codekit and if so I might not need this. But It's been a great tool that always shave off some more with quality retained or make images generally publishable.

Quite often I get "Write error. The file could not be written". There seem to be no issue with the permissions and if I cut out the changes and close and reopen the file and paste in the changes, the file can be written again.

This remains in patch 9. Any ideas beyond an app bug?

Concentrate crashes for me on OS X 10.6.8 at the stage of adding any action by dragging it to the activity area. At the drag there is a crash:

Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x0000000000000030
Crashed Thread: 0

It seems to me Concentrate isn't really compatible with OS X 10.6.8.

What are your experiences under 10.6?

And then for whatever reason it just works. Very strange, but possibly something to do with some permission error or so.

What OS X version are you on? It works now on OS X 10.6.8 for me. The drag and drop crashes are no more. Unfortunately I have no idea how I resolved this. I do recommend you repair your permissions though, while booted from the main system disk.

I use:
sudo diskutil repairPermissions /
, in the Terminal usually.

Anyone else see audio sync problems with High Quality MP4 videos?
I'm on OS X 10.7.4 using a 2.2ghz merom dual core processor with 6gb of RAM and 128 mb nVidia GeForce 8600M GT. WMV doesn't seem to have this problem, nor do RealMedia.

Geoprof said: "I set Flash to always “block all sites from storing information on…" my Snow Leopard and Mountain Lion Macs, but I still get websites' Flash requests to store info on my machines 6 or 8 times a week."

Is this in Safari and/or other browsers? Are there certain web sites that want to make these kinds of requests? Example URL?

Regarding Enterprise installations I found this interesting article: "Unattended installs of Flash Player 11.3" http://managingosx.wordpress.com/2012/08/17/unattended-installs-of-flash-player-11-3/ which describes Adobes recommended method on the Mac, its flaws and some workarounds.

In the several interesting comments you'll find that user TBG tells of making your own installer with JAMF Composer.
Read more about this tool here: http://blogs.adobe.com/oobe/2012/05/jamf-composer-2007-2012-r-i-p.html

It seems to me, before I've have tried any of these methods, that installing Flash Player to Enterprise users is certainly possible but also unnecessary complicated.

Anyone have tried these methods and lived to tell about the experience?

If you have iTunes 10.6.3 and Fluke gives you the AttributeError: Unknown property, element or command: 'add' you can solve this by downgrading to 10.6.1. Just run the installer available at:

Above the claim is made that Max can split one flac album file into tracks with the help of a cue file. It's totally unclear to me how that is supposed to be set up.

When I tried such a file duo (flac + cue) Max made one big aiff file. How do you do it?

To reenable plugins in TenFourFox 7.0 go to the address field and type about:config. Press return and click on the "I'll be careful, I promise" button.
In the filter input type "tenfourfox".
You now see TenFourFox related preferences and can set new values by Double clicking each preference. To reenable set "tenfourfox.plugins.enabled" to true and "tenfourfox.layout.hideplugins" to false. If you want the java plugin activated set "tenfourfox.layout.hide_java_plugin" to false. Close the window or go to a web site to verify.

Verified with Flash 10.1. I assume it will work with most other plugins as well.

I use iAlarm 2.03 which seems to be the last to support PPC. After iAlarm recently have failed me twice to awake from sleep in a recently installed Leopard OS, with no screen password, I decided to abandon it. It used to work really well though.
