The "product" they're selling here is available in so many other products for far less. A Mac-aware version comes with the MacOS which won't litter your zip files with dot or resource files.

And the company just won't take "unsubscribe" for an answer. So I've taken to reporting their marketing emails after my unsubscribe request to their ISP as SPAM.

Don't bother with this product or company unless you need to be sure that the zip files you create are 1000% compatible with windows. I've never had a problem with the free or native alternatives already available on MacOS.

ANYTHING from Wondershare is adware. They put stuff on your system to collect information and spam you later. I've deleted all their crap from my systems. This little guy was last.

Youtube made changes recently that makes this application worthless. Don't know if there are any fixes out there, but it currently doesn't work.

Ulysses and Scrivner are about the same price. I wanted to replace my aging copy of Storymill with a tool that would give me equivalent features--chapters, scenes, research, character info, etc. --it's all the same data just stuffed into different categories in backend database.

All the writers I asked said "Scrivner" without hesitation. One SF writer even called it an IDE for those that write.

I should have listened to the "poor customer service" comments on this page. How about "no customer service"?

I've run this for 6 months or so. In both 10.6 and 10.8, EMP will sometimes randomly select a name from devices on my network and use that instead of 'hostid' for backup filenames. I've mailed the developer a couple times but been totally ignored. At this point, I think the backups are redundant with Time Machine anyway. I can open up mail, go back to a date in TM, and the emails sent and received that day are all there. I hope this developer has a day-job because this piece of junk wasn't worth the $10 I paid for it.

The price was right as well as the ability to do custom invoices with graphic layout. This had it all. Then they upgraded to a Lion-only version but didn't code it to not run on 10.6.8. It upgraded my database and now I can't extract or print anything. "You should have read the documentation" was their response when I complained. If I'd known they were so crappy at customer service, I'd have spent the time to develop a Filemaker solution. I still might. These guys wasted to much of my time to ever trust them again.

The Add client, create invoice, add money cycle makes this very painful for a point-of-sale receipt generator but it was the closest I found to replace my Appleworks database. Pity.

This twitter client is the weakest in features of all the ones I've tried. Given a choice between the web interface and this, I'd use the web version. I couldn't login using my email address and that's all I've ever used for an account and there was no help feature or any way to contact Twitter for help. I had to go to the web site for that.

Seriously? There are a bunch of better versions of Twitter out there. WHY can't the actual vendor come up with one that doesn't suck dead bunnies?

I bought this back in 2008 and it worked just fine until 3.5. Then it stopped working and the developer didn't respond to emails. So I found iTubeX where the developer is very responsive. During the last Youtube 'shake out' he was right on top of it. That's why I only gave this half a star.

I walked away because the developer seemed to have done so. The current version 5.0.0 is available from the Mac App store and only runs on 10.7, according to the developer's web site. This site seems to have stale information.

backuplist+ works much better without the flakey developer behavior. Even though it's free, it works so well and flawlessly, that I gave the developer money because it's so well written.

I stopped using DejaVu a while ago and haven't looked back.

This doesn't fit my email needs at all. Any client I use must be able to send TEXT only. I could not find any way to do that either in the on-line help or the limited on-line forums.

Also, I want to specify a mail agent to read mail, a separate to send, and have the Reply-To: header added. Didn't see a way to configure that.

Yep. That was it.

Would it be so hard to code an error message into all your apps to log in syslog that the app needs to be in the /Applications folder?

Or to actually ask the user if they want to move it there? If they say no, have it delete itself.

Or change the art in the install DMG to saying YOU MUST MOVE APP to /Applications for it to work.

Personally, I can't think of any technical reason why an App would only run in /Applications and no where else. That's just sloppy coding. But not bothering to check that this is the problem is worse. It's lazy coding.

clicking on iGoogle Analytics.app does nothing. /var/log/system.log has

All your other apps don't run on 10.6.8 on my system:

% java -version
java version "1.6.0_29"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_29-b11-402-10M3527)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.4-b02-402, mixed mode)

This is the most current version of Java for 10.6.8 that I know of.

tried to use their Forum to troubleshoot a problem with their site. it wouldn't let me use my valid email address. Gmail worked but I tried to change it and it wouldn't take it. Others had similar problems that were unresolved on their forum after 2 years. Support for this product SUCKS. Not something I want to spend time on. At least with URL Manager Pro, Alco came back from the dead to support his product and customers. Guess that's what you get for free. PASS.

Most of the utilities from this package crash with a bus error on MacOS X 10.4.11 on my PPC. Compiling coreutils 6.12 from scratch doesn't have this problem.

I've been using MenuMeters forever and switched to iStat menus for the last couple months. I've found a fundamental problem with iStat menus with the most current release of Little Snitch (2.0.1) in that the Little Snitch daemon will start hogging CPU seemingly at random. I ripped out iStat menus and the problem goes away. I think something in the network monitoring of iStat menus is affecting Little Snitch. Since I consider Little Snitch a "must have", I'm back to MenuMeters and my system hasn't had a problem since.
