Bought it at MacZot's reduced rate a couple of days ago and already relied on it once to recover some data I had accidentally deleted.

The attraction of ForeverSave is that if you're working on important documents, you can get it to back them up as frequently as you want (as often as once a minute if like), and recover any of the incremental backups, not just the last. Of course, TimeMachine does this for the whole drive, but if you're running TimeMachine every hour, you could still lose up to an hour's worth of work on a key document - disastrous if you're right up against a deadline. Also, ForeverSave doesn't seem to produce the general slowdown caused during TimeMachine backups, which sometimes makes me cancel a backup while its in progress.

Some older applications are not compatible wtih ForeverSave (, but my first 48 hours experience with it are very positive

I have a 2.16 Ghz MacBook and coconutBattery 2.6.5 shows Current Battery Capacity 5148mAh - greater than its Original Battery Capacity of 5020 mAh. This is from a 19 month old machine which has gone through 136 Battery Load Cycles. I'm using OS 10.5.6.

I've tried several previous versions which have all also shown current capacity at more than 100% original capacity.

This is from the "Upgrader's Guide" on Devonthink Pro Office 2.0pb2

"Due to technical difficulties with the new engine this public beta comes with OCR temporarily disabled. We and ABBYY are working hard on making it work again and will release a new public beta as soon as possible."

If you need OCR stick with the previous beta, where it still works.

I think this is the best of the Spotlight alternatives.
Finally, my files seem to belong to me again - I can now find them all. I particularly like the detailed control it gives over searches: eg “find all files modified in the last 36 hours other than folders” or “find all files of type A, containing the word B, in folder C, modified before date D, other than those containing word E in the filename”. You can save complex searches and recall them with a keyboard shortcut. Its quite helpful to study the templates in the menubar (eg 'Long lost files'). It was only when I did this that I finally grasped how to set up a boolean "not" search.
