I can't find an answer to this issue in any forums on iTunes, so maybe it's just me. I have found the audio quality of music played through iTunes to be muffled and otherwise poor whether using default or custom settings on the equalizer. This dates back to the apps' rewrite from Soundjam. I have used a number of iMacs and eMacs since 2000 but my sound system has been constant - an awesome 2 speaker and sub-woofer Altec-Lansing set that I purchased with my first iMac in 1998 and never had a reason to change. Movies, music videos, and any hi qual audio codec that Quicktime can run all sound great on QT or other players and, strangely, music videos purchased or converted from .flv You Tube files sound fine when played in iTunes. But for MP3, I have to play one at a time using QT or 3rd party players to get good sound. So, for a long time now I have used iTunes as an audio/visual organizer, podcast downloader, and iPod service station. Suggestions welcome.
