I'm confused. I have an application that I love called Desktop Tidy, from Light Pillar Apps. Version 1.0. This application, DeskTopTidy seems to do the same thing, but behaves differently and is from AlphaSoft. They will run concurrently. Are they the same application? I much prefer the older one, since it runs as a menubar item instead of a dock item. And it has more preferences. Please clarify.

Yes, you should rename it. I thought Desktop Tidy had gone into version 2.0.

I just around to re-installing MAO after upgrading systems. It does not seem to work (nothing will bring up the rules) and it keeps asking for my registration information. The developer seems unresponsive. Any one else have problems? Software 10.8.3, Mail 6.3.

I am confused. There is Apple Java and Oracle Java or no Java at all. Both Apple and Oracle java appear to be updates to fix known vulnerabilities. But I think those are both run-time java, not browser-based java. And do the two versions compete, conflict or negate each other?

What should a cautious user do? I do use educational applications that run in browsers or as downloads (pHET).

I'm ready to purchase this (assuming it's not over-priced).

What does this update do? Half a gig download, 600 MB install and the software in Applications was not changed. How can drivers take up 600 MB?

How long will this download take? It's been working for more than an hour and there is no progress bar or messages. I have a fairly decent DSL connection.

OK, found the answer. Go to "Purchases" and there is a progress bar. Apparently it will take a long time.

I have given up on using this software. Missing Sync for Palm used to work better than this. Maybe it's google's requirements, who knows, but this simply does not work. I've tried SyncMate, which is somewhat better, but gave up on that, too.

Just give in and sync with google in the cloud. In the long run (and short run) it's just easier and more reliable. Get a google email address, even if you don't plan on using it. And if you don't, why did you buy an android phone, anyway? Best of all, it's all free.

Contacts: there is a preference setting in Address Book to sync to google (and yahoo). You may have to do recursive syncs and merge contacts a couple of times to make them them same. Be sure to back up your contacts first.

Calendar: ditto. Back up your calendar! Sync TO goggle calendars and then subscribe in your android system. You'll have an iCal copy and google copy, so configuring it is kind of a pain. But when you do it once and have it right, you don't have to mess with it any more and it syncs without intervention on your part.

Files: dropbox, dropbox, dropbox.
