Unfortunately, it does not produce the same quality output as Handbrake. Make this simple test:

1. Create a new preset in Handbrake (GUI version)
2. Encode a video in Handbrake using this preset
3. Encode the same video in HandbrakeBatch using the same preset

The two resulting videos will not have the same image quality, with the HandbrakeBatch video being of lower quality and larger file size.

You don't need a high quality video to test this. Any standard definition movie trailer from the internet will do. Re-encode it with both HandBrake and HandbrakeBatch and see the difference.

"Free ($9.99)"

So which is it? freeware, or a $10 commercial app?

Seems there's a version 4.7 available from the App store (for free). Don't know what's different about it from the freely available 4.6.1.

Here's the App store link: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/easyfind/id411673888?mt=12

I just found out that according to the dev team, this will be the last version of Handbrake that will support AVI and XviD (http://forum.handbrake.fr/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=12464).

I find this very disappointing, because my main use for Handbrake was to create backups of my DVDs in XviD/AVI files which were compatible with my DVD player. Without further development on this front, Handbrake will become useless to me, and I will have to look for a more clunky and/or commercial solution, like FFmpegX.

If you also feel that there should be some support for XviD/AVI in future versions of Handbrake, I suggest you contact the dev team, or post your comments here.

I'm not arguing in favor of one format over another. I just find AVI/XviD very convenient because it's supported by almost all stand-alone video playback devices and DVD players. MKV and H264 are clearly superior from a technological standpoint, but I have yet to see any DVD player that supports them.

As for Handbrake, I often see glitches and artifacts in its XviD conversion. I don't mind them very much, but it would be nice if the dev team fixed these glitches in the XviD encoder instead of completely dropping support for the format. Also, I'd like to see an improved 64-bit version of the Handbrake XviD encoder which could give me faster encoding speeds.

The download link appears to be dead. Googled it, and could not find another live download link.

If the links don't work, you can download Bootpicker from this URL: http://www.apple.com/education/it-professionals/bootpicker/

In Mac OS X 10.4 it only creates 128x128 .png files, even when the .icns is a 512x512 icon.

"Links into your iWork Numbers models to run detailed Monte Carlo analy"

I love this description: concise and totally incomprehensible. The way I understand it, this software allows you to import detailed numbers from the Monte Carlo Rally in your butt! It gets better every time I read it!

Very nice tool for creating video tutorials, but way overpriced for most home users, and version 1.0.x still lacks the features that would make it a great choice for professionals who could afford it.

Personally, I'd buy it if it it was $50 or less just to encourage the developers to add more features, but $100 is way too much for my budget.

Consistently crashes when you press the Start button on a quad-core MacPro (early 2008) with 10.5.2.

I did some digging and discovered this is a known bug with XviD. http://forum.handbrake.fr/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5695
