I think it is my fault, but this is not what I had expected. I had hoped to build-up a comprehensive profile of each character, then to either have printed, copied into Scrivener or even better... to have exported the whole project, links and all... to a mini website, where I could quickly follow the links to each character and be offered differing layouts (Family connections, groups, friendships, histories etc...).

The program 'seems' to be centred around it pulling info from a database, based on what you chose from various drop-down menus (ie type - leader, follower etc...). Whereas I had thought it was a way to build my characters and then export them in such a manner as to be helpful, which it does not.

Software however cheap or reduced, really should offer more than this. My guess is they will either drop it, or offer better export options in the future... especially the mini site idea... which if done well, could be invaluable.

Having just purchased Crossover via MacUpdates Promo, it wont register... still awaiting an email response from both Codeweavers and MacUpdate.

To registration asks for your Codeweaver login details... well I didn't have, nor was I asked to setup an account with Codeweavers! Anyway now I have setup a Codeweaver account, you guessed it... It still wont register... even though I used both my codeweaver login details... and the registration key sent to me via MacUpdate.

It is this kind of senario, that I aways fear when not purchasing directly from the software developer.

Yes, at last it is working... but what a poor show by MacUpdate!

MacUpdate only send you the serial code... and that is it, but this is what I had to do.

1). Having made your purchase, and received your serial code. Go to www.codeweavers.com and setup an account.

2). When you go to run Crossover it'll ask you to (buy|try|register) and tell you that there is a new version available, ignore the (buy|try|register) message, but agree to update to the new version, and allow it to update the program.

3). Once updated, then choose to register, when the registration box opens hit the button "if you have a serial code" [it says something like that].

4). Enter the login details that you used to set-up an account at www.codeweavers.com, and enter your serial code, and all should be fine.

Again, with MacUpdate only giving the serial, and not answering my emails, it doesn't inspire me with much confidence to make any future purchases... though I'm sure I will, but how much more those who are not heavy computer users, or very computer savvy?

I do hope MacUpdate make the effort to make future purchases a bit more streamline. Still, I'm pleased to get the lastest version at a discount price, you have to credit them with that... thanks MU.
