Added info to my last post: The cause of the problem was an imcompatibility with another SIMBL plug-in, SafariTabs. Figured that out just before writing to the developer.

Now ForgetMeNot works.

Translation of "unclose" is a little awkward in German. But then, so is probably "unclose" in English.

ForgetMeNot can reload tabs that were open when Safari was last closed. Unfortunately that does not work for a crash. Or so I think after testing with a "force quit":
I opened two tabs. Quit Safari. Restarted Safari. Two tabs were open. I opened a third tab. Force-quit Safari. Restarted Safari. Again, only two tabs were opened.

Very promising functionality: We all know the pain that this little plug-in is supposed to fix.
However ...
- the current version 4 requires Safari 3, which at this point is still beta.
- Version 3 for Safari 2 is not available on the developers website.
- I finally found version 3 for Safari 2 over at VersionTracker.
- Installer failed: "no software to install". I extracted the software from the bundle manually.
- Safari opened and quit immediately.
Too bad. I would have loved to use this software. I will try to contact the author.

Well done. I trust that putting such good software under GPL will encourage more developers to join in and help with the effort.

Nice interface. Fills much of the feature gap that TextEdit leaves open even for a light-weight word processor.

I noticed that text is not rendered as good as in TextEdit and Safari: Spacing is often uneven. I hope that developers read these comments and will look into this.

Not just disable Java but also JavaScript!

With both methods a site is able to read the ip-address of the client receiving the page.

Of course, even with both enabled, I believe you still enjoy a fair deal of anonymity, since it must be the site owner who tries to search you out, not a 3rd party such as your local government etc.

Excellent, marvelous.

Takes a little time to sort out the interface. But that is not to say that the interface needs to be improved. It's only the mass of available features that overwhelms at first.

Usually I stay away from "swiss-army-knife" software that tries to do everything rather than just one thing. But Butler does a lot of things and does them all right. Despite the many features Butler is not bloated.

Thanks, Peter Maurer.

One issue: Files with umlauts are not recognized properly. So typing "Hägar" will give me only "www.hägar.com", not the various files with "Hägar" in their name.

To the developer: Please sort this under "demo", not "free".

Nobody minds if you charge for your work, but please be straight about it right on the cover page, i. e. the MacUpdate home page, not just in the info text.

"expert reviewers" (as ANAME called them) in this case from German c't magazin have done test-deinstallations with Yank and found that they were often not 100% complete
- due to permission problems,
- sometimes yank did not record all changes on your disk during the installation,
- and because of how it works yank cannot record changes that occur after installation, e. g. at first run, or installs background processes at a later time (which applies to Desinstaller, too).
- sadly yank seemingly does not consider /Library/Receipts for further information (like Desinstaller does).

Does Shiira share bookmarks with Safari so users can easily switch between the two browsers?
