Thanks for this. Seems to work quickly and neatly to get rid of the updater (which installed itself here apparently with Google Earth since I don't use Chrome) using 10.6.8. Updater used to make constant attempts to contact server, but was blocked using Little Snitch. No sign of the updater in Activity Monitor -- now if only it stays gone!

I'm using an old version of Google Earth (7.0.3.8542) which works for me and I don't see "check for update" in the menus or prefs. I would do the same thing as Dougster above, and manually find and install an update if I need one. And no sign of Google updater after a day without it (shutdown last night, and a restart today after using Toast to create some disc images).

No problems with NetShade 5.2 (racoon), but the new VPN interface in NetShade 5.4 doesn't seem to work for me in OSX 10.6.8. Uninstalled 5.4 and reverted, no troubles. I will not give this app a bad rating because it has served me well.

Mediocre improvement to sound quality, but the real stickler is the refusal by the program to recognize your $20 registration number if you need to reinstall at a later date -- so the money is down the drain. Try the equalizer in iTunes with the preamp activated for small speakers on a laptop...

runs nicely here on an old 800mHz G4 iBook (640 MB RAM, OS 10.3.9) and a mediocre cable connection... thanks Google!

after a complete uninstall of WMV Player, Camino, Firefox, Safari, Opera and Internet Explorer still refuse to launch Windows Media Player externally for pages such as http://www.sedgwickrd.com/holiday/ although WMP works within webpages... haven't seen software that screws up a Mac like this does for quite awhile.
