Reading all these reviews I'm starting to get feeling sorry for this developer. Sure, the last years he could have done a lot better in communication. But there are more indie developers that have that problem. (Like Allan Odgaard/Textmate).

Overall The Hit List is a great GTD application. Even the last years when it was in beta. And I'm glad Andy continued developing THL and even happier it is finally out of beta.
The quick respond to earlier problems with the library conversion an PPC support with version 1.0.1 is making me hopeful for the future.

I tried all it's main competitors: Things, OF and a few others but somehow at the end I always came back as this is the one that suites me best.

(btw. at this point the version should be 1.0.1, not 1.1)

This could be a nice app for all my tagging. If only it was doing a better job when tagging imap based mail. Instead of tagging the mail it makes it's own references by creating weblinks which are saved in a separate folder. Therefor it shows op in searches with spotlight with the tag: prefix. But is out of the scope of mail.app.

Tags, Meta, Tagoman al do a better job when it comes to tagging mail.

@Nudgenudge Sorry if you feel I treated you unfair. But thats the way it is. This is not to make your app look bad. But for me it is a key future when it comes to tagging,. I have a license but for this reason it stays untouched. And yes those app's I mentioned are indeed have found a way to tag mails without disappearing after sync.

To bad that that now you are feeling the urge to respond, but neglected to reply on my mail or on the forum post. (Although I didn't mention it, I did alto took that in consideration when giving you the 1.5 rating)

@Nudgenudge Thanks for responding. I jused check what you were saying. Normally I only move mail inside mail.app. Mostly to a local folder. So I checked what would happen I I tagged a mail with Tags or Meta (Tagoman stopped development) I moved it to different folders using my iPhone and via the webinterface (roundcube). I created custom folders. All without any problems and showing up in spotlight, punakea etc.

Mailtags and Meta are both limited to Mail.app. If you don't use the extra functions of mailtags I would prefer Meta as it uses openmeta. Tagoman had stability issues and development is discontiued. All the ironic products fail when it comes to mail tagging. Tags is the one that comes most close to Punakea. And it does tag mails. But Punakea still has that nice drag/drop sidebar. If only...
I hope you will find a way to make this work. Or even give us the option to choose how mailtagging is handled.

btw it was never my intention to give Punakea a bad rep. I see it as an app with lots of potential and hope this will help to make it better.

@Nudgenudge, yep, as said, I tested it moving files on my iphone and I also tied it using safari/web interface (roundcube). It all worked as expected.
Thanks for looking into it.

This is a great tool and I use it since the first public beta.

As much as I like the dock icon and the clean view of Things, The hit list is just a much more complete GTD app, compared to that.
There are many differences but what I like a lot is the easy way you are able to convert mails to taskk by just dragging the mail on top of THL icon.
On other thing I miss in Things is the abillety to assign time to a task. THL gives you this option (just like OF) but also comes with a timer.
Still much more to come..

Don't want to spam this thread but just wanted to let everybody know. In case your intrested in THL. It's in the new MacHeist bundle, waiting to be unlocked for only a fraction of what it would cost you otherwise.
