Amazing application that saved my butt. After upgrading to Mountain Lion, I was unable to eject one particular external drive. Some process was holding it hostage. Disk Activity Monitor and Terminal were useless. If I killed a suspect process, a new one was spawned immediately. However, LaunchControl nailed the problem instantly when it launched. (I didn’t even need to click!) It flagged this process with an error:

com.adobe.ARM.f5f58dc11239b2f426441dd0b70a32ed7ad58ea6f8cc485f4a60b0ae

It informed me that this process belonged to a “RunAtLoad” .plist file that was accessing the problem disk in search of this file:

/Volumes/ProblemDrive/Applications/Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro/Adobe Acrobat Pro.app/Contents/MacOS/Updater/Adobe Acrobat Updater Helper.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe Acrobat Updater Helper

Bingo! The directory /Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro/ does not exist on that volume. So the process was hung up for eternity.

LaunchControl offered to remove that .plist file from the LaunchAgents directory, even let me peek into its contents to make sure it was OK. Problem solved. No other application will do what this program does. And for the cost of parking your car in a lot for an hour!
