About Me
I am a MacUpdate Desktop user
Gender: Male
I have been a professional photographer since 1979. In the early years, I traveled with my Canon A-1 and Linhof Technika 4x5 view camera photographing the American West, amassing a stock photo library of over 10,000 transparencies. I now shoot exclusively digital with Nikon equipment, looking to craft outstanding photographs. My photographs have appeared in numerous ads, books, magazines, and on magazine covers. Assignments have included such clients as the National Park Service and U.S. Electricar.

It bothers me that:

1) this is at version 2.0, yet I have yet to see a single comment/rating on any previous versions;

2) It makes a blanket statement that it can recover ALL of your files. No other data rescue software would dare make that claim;

3) There's a major spelling mistake in the screenshot (partittion).kioj

Interesting that 4.0 is being announced here, and I already have 4.1 on my iMac.

Oops, I meant 8.0 announced, and 8.1 on my iMac. Still early in the morning for me!

Voice2Email - "Free" costs $9.99? That just doesn't make sense to me.

Looks like someone from MacUpdate corrected the title. Thank you!

My ONLY complaint is that it can't update itself. Downloading the entire app and replacing the old version with the new version is ever-so-slightly irrating. Other thant this minor gripe, it's my favorite video player on the Mac platform.

Every time I try to log in now, I get the following message: " Sorry, that key does not appear to be valid."

Then I try to change the password, and I still get the same message.

Found a conflict with Bartender's ability to move icons around in the menubar with BetterTouchTool installed. BetterTouchTool completely disables the feature in Bartender.

Still in it's infancy, but shows tremendous potential as an Apple-centric place to meet to share ideas or post questions, support needs, etc. I've already started a font design group there.

Okay, here's an unbiased review of this product. I've been a full-time professional photographer since 1979, and have done assignments around the world.

BeauTune, for the price, is just short of amazing at what it does. Although I had to change my workflow a bit, it still does a great job of editing portraits (I also shoot a lot of high school senior portraits). I only have a couple of minor complaints that keep it from getting 5 stars:

1) Have BeauTune remember its window size;

2) Have an easy way to change the brush/cursor size, like Lightroom 5 does with the scroll wheel.

I just bought this yesterday off the Apple Store for $14.99 (half price) because it wasn't expensive for what it claimed to do. I was using Imagenomic's Portraiture in Lightroom and Photoshop, but BeauTune will now be worked in to my workflow.

There's a problem that I'm having with the new version 2.0. I use the 3-finger click to bring up Spaces, and with the old version, it would stay in Spaces after I released the mouse so that I could choose the Space I wanted to navigate to. With this version, when I press the mouse using the 3-finder click, Spaces pops up, but when I release the mouse, it goes away. Is there a new preference or something similar that I'm missing?

I love HyperDock, but the latest version (0.9.12.1) introduced a new problem for me. Without warning, the window previews in the dock will just stop working. The only workaround to getting them back is to open the HyperDock prefpane and the disable, then enable HyperDock. Hopefully the next version will fix this problem.

Can't really evaluate this, because it crashes EVERY time I choose the Preferences menu option.

When trying to update to 2.0.1, I get an immediate message stating "The were errors installing, please try again." Reinstalled from my original Halo UB disk, then tried the updater again, and I get the same error message.

Tried download the DMG for version 1.5 twice. Both times it gave me a "codec overrun" message and wouldn't open.

Version 2.0.1 still has problems with QuicKeys. QuicKeys will lock up after choosing the "Choose Menu" button in creating a new macro. I've sent reports of this to Unsanity, but most of my emails to them go unanswered. I really wish they would fix this. At this point I need QuicKeys more than I need Unsanity's products, so off they go.

I'm having a problem with 1.3.2 that happens in several programs. Font styles in submenus cannot be chosen, it only defaults to the main listed font in the main menu. If I'm using ITC Berkeley, and I want to choose the italic version, it won't accept the change and keeps the regular version. The font set is complete, but FontCard won't allow the style change. I have no problems with You Control: Fonts, but I like the fact the FontCard works in the app's own font menu and not a separate one. I've contacted Unsanity twice in the last month via their email tech support and have yet to hear a word. Terrible support!
