OK. I confess I might have been asked by Zeobit to give this review. However, I did not commit myself to doing it the way Zeobit would expect it :*)

Informed and expert Mac users do not need this software.

MacKeeper is thought for former Windows users who dared to switch to the Mac world, yet feel awkward in managing their new computing experience.

Personal support: I have a marked preference for forums at, and I would never let anybody (even from a registered company such as Zeobit) get control of my machine remotely to help me investigate sources of trouble.

Update tracker: nothing equals Macupdate :*)

Login items, default apps: I stick on Apple own system preferences and free robust utilities such as RCDefaultApp

Optimization and cleaning: when your computer gets slow, nothing equals a larger hard disk or additional RAM. Duplicate finders, smart uninstallers, binary cutters, foreign language removers are futile helpers here. GrandPerspective is a great free tool to have an overview of your big files.
MacOS X self maintenance and Onyx are just perfect to keep your Mac “clean”.

Data control: Time machine is great, period. Shredder, encryption: other users in this forum already pointed out more useful, suitable, powerful, and cheaper options.

If I identify myself with a former PC user, I guess that the-all-in-one feature of MacKeeper would make it a winner at first sight.
But if I work on a Mac, this is for subtle reasons that make MacKeeper just the opposite of what I am looking for.

If you come from the Windows world, take a deep breath, use your Mac, and discover by yourself how clever MacOS X is.

In a short time you will see you have good control on your machine, and you will soon become an informed Mac user, who do not need this software.
