This update does what it says it will do, uninstall the Java plugin. The plugin is for browser use. It does not uninstall Java, but updates it to a newer version of SE6.

If you need the Java plugin for your browsers, then get the 7.x plugin from Oracle by following the directions provided in the update description.

It should be noted that the Oracle version 7 plugin is 64bit only, and may cause issues with some Java applets and reportedly FileMaker server.
Verify your required applets work with the version 7 Java plugin before installing this update. If you discover/hear of a problem with a required applet, contact that applet developer and request they test against, and resolve issues regarding the Oracle version 7 64bit Java plugin.
If there is no support for your particular applet, then you'd better start researching, and making plans to work around that sad - sad state of affairs.

I've been using on my home machine and it's a fine product. I recommend it.

A fine product. I have installed it on 2 machines at home and no complaints. Thank you Sophos!

technically speaking, Enable/Disable the library folder is incorrect.

you could enable/disable finder visibility, or show/hide the library folder.

the library folder is there, whether you can see it in the finder or not.

Not to nitpick, but this would have been a bit easier to use if the list of potential admin users was a text file.
That way, the main admin doesn't have to delve into Directory services just to add a potential admin user.

Just add the name to the text file.

I can see where this might be of use to some folks out there in the wild. Cool idea. :)

Installed (after figuring out a whacky bug with autoupdater) without problem.

Launched Word. No problem. Are there new icons in the document templates window? Seems like it...

Launched Excel. No Problem.

GNU tar was not updated. I'm still showing 1.14 as opposed to the advertised 1.15
Otherwise, seems fine...

I think this software is absolutely awesome. It seems like a no brainer for Apple to provide something like this in it's future OS products under the Energy Saver preferences or something.

Thanks Lobotomo! You deserve to be compensated for this one. :)

I do not know if there are risks associated with setting the sliders incorrectly (or if that's even a possibility, since I'm not likely to try that ;) ) so that is the reason for the, perhaps harsh, 4 star in Ease of Use. :P :)

Using an early (mat screen) MacBook Pro.

AquaSay? GUISay? LinGUISay?

say already exists. man say

yeah... um, I'd have to guess that the fans will make the MacBook Pro run cooler, but that would only be a guess since it doesn't actually say "what" fan behavior specifically would be modified.

Cripes! A new level of vagueness. Perhaps next time they won't even mention what the update is for.

Maybe next time it'll just say "Firmware." with no description at all?
