On 10.9, and good as ever.

Write Room is not fancy. It will not automatically transform your ideas into finished prose. But if you want to write — to get your words onto the screen, then edit and revise and polish them in a smooth, uncluttered environment — this may be just the thing.

As if it weren't already a prize winner, there's now CriticMarkup, so those of us who compulsively tweak and re-tweak can easily keep track of our fussiness.

It's even better than the write-up says. Neat, versatile, and very easy to use — and to apply across a wide spectrum of stuff you might want to read. Only sorry it wasn't around twenty years ago.

This quickly finds the words. Spotlight can't even find the folders.

Clearly the best.

DrFrank (below) has already made the first point I wanted to address: U3 is not an upgrade from U2. It is a whole new machine. It is slick and attractive, and if you’ve worked with NV or nvALT, it won’t be too hard to get going. As for supplanting Scrivener, however, I’m not so sure. All I can say is that we have, in the driveway, both a Honda Fit and a Honda CR-V; sometimes we take a particular one for a particular reason, other times we take whichever is nearer the street.

Free for $39.00... Am I missing something?

One of those programs -- seem to be many such in the text-editing category -- which you'll like immediately, or wonder what the fuss is about. Me, I liked it immediately, and am liking it more each time I fire it up. Very comfortable.
