For more years than I can remember -and I won't even count how many OSs- this wonderful little gem still works! I mean... it's late 2013... am runnin' 10.8.3 Mountain Lion... and it still works!!

Further, the Apple method via "Get Info" just doesn't always work (had the same trouble users below had) which makes this tool invaluable.

I have NEVER posted here in MU. Mostly because I don’t really have much to say. Well now I have something to say… Bravo Misha!

Not until you acted did the folks over at Koingo finally concede. Unfortunately, they did so a day late and a dollar short. First by causing this ‘fiasco’ and then by sending out an inflammatory email about how they are “”giving away”” 2.2 million dollars worth of software just to make it look like they are doin’ the right thing? Look, I was one of those who was shocked by their pull-back on the license codes in question (MacCleanse 3 & Data Guardian 3).

This is my story… I got the freebie bundle (as a matter of fact I finally registered with MacUpdate after years of visiting just to get the bundle) and was ALLOWED to register the MacCleanse product. Used it and all was good. Then, some weeks later when I went to launch MacCleanse again, the app asked if I wanted to update it. I clicked ok and all of a sudden MacCleanse became a demo. I sent Koingo a support request and only after several attempts did I finally get a reply that insinuated that this was MacUpdate’s fault and that I just wasn’t eligible for their ‘oh so great’ software. Koingo’s reply was rude and haughty.

Josh Hoggan, I don’t believe you will lose 2.2 million dollars by doing the right thing but you may very well lose it now with all of these going-ons. We vote with our dollars and we talk to one another… these kind of things spread. What really kills me is that you finally step up when the heat is on only to save your skin and you do so by giving away older software? And you still dare to post here in MU?

In closing, let me add that MacUpdate’s reputation isn’t at risk here. They defended their users. Punto Finito. No matter what some of the posts below would like you to otherwise believe. Further, many of those comments below seem rather suspicious to me (especially those in defense of Koingo but yet have never commented before). As if they were prompted to come here and post?

Shame on you Koingo.

Again... look above and look below... the comments defending Koingo seem RATHER SUSPICIOUS... AS IF THEY WERE PROMPTED TO COME HERE AND POST!
