Just wanna let you know that …

"GraphicConverter 9" has a special price until 31.12.2013.
I just purchased it from the AppStore for CHF 26 (Swiss Francs) thats like 29$.

Oversized application created with a basic-compiler. Includes some other external tools. Depends on many things not coming from Apple.

Why not use a native Cocoa-Application for such a task or at least something that does not depends on so many things.

Interesting fact: often, developers inform us proudly how they created their application (... is a native Cocoa-Application written in Objective-C with Xcode 5) but I never saw that when it comes to a RealBasic-Application. They really try to not mention it. There must be a good reason for this.

- I left my machine alone while a newly purchased 18 GB game was downloading. 40 minutes later I saw that my machine was sleeping. As it turned out the machine did go to sleep while AppStore was installing the (in the meantime completely downloaded) 18 GB App. I had to restart and after a while, AppStore showed the "Continue" Button (but 0 bytes downloaded) but it worked anyway and it finished installing in like 15 minutes or so.

- Activity Monitor has an error where it doesn't show anything unless you click a header (sorts) but it still does not update correctly. In such a case that tool is useless.

- Finder: while dragging items it often crashes (&relaunches), dragging images from Safari starts to fail after a while or after the first crash;

- Safari: Safari shows often blank pages after going back to the last page (history).

This system is confusing. In the middle of my work it started to install a big update for a game. Without showing anything in AppStore or elsewhere. Super stupid because Autoupdate is switched off

Scrolling Issues

OS X Mavericks has a weird issue. I observed that issue with Safari, Firefox and AppStore. I don't use other Browsers but I've seen comments about other Browsers having the same issue.

It happens this way: after a while, the mouse stops working correctly. If you try to swipe thru history in Safari, the current web-page becomes unresponsive and one has to close it because nothing else works. In Firefox, swiping just stops working but the content is not affected but scrolling with mouse/trackpad also stops working. AppStore has exactly the same issue as Safari but AppStore stops working completely when that issue appears, Force-quit was the only option left because it did not react to any input (keyboard, mouse, trackpad).

It seems that this only happens after visiting some WebSites - probably ones with heavy use of JavaScript - and when it starts to happen, it happens kinda "globally" (browsers, AppStore.app...) but a log-out/log-in or restart solves it.
