Stay away from the thieves who came up with this junk. Yes, the images are nice, but you can find their equivalents all over the net. The interface is somewhat cumbersome and often very slow to load even with a top-speed connection. But the worst thing this outfit does is to continuously "update," rename and charge as for a new app what only only amounts to a few minor tweaks. Idiot that I am, I wanted to support this company and paid for two versions (getting one here and an "update" from the App store), but later when I lost the app in a serious crash and simultaneous death of a backup drive, I returned to the App store to reinstall it but it was no longer available because it had again been renamed and repriced. I gave the developers a record of my purchases and asked what their upgrade policy was they answered with a terse (even giving them some slack for being non-native-English speakers in Kiev, Ukraine), "No. You have to make a new purchase." Period. End of message. I suspected a schism between two developers who went separate ways with similarily-named products, but if that's the case it's offensive that they dragged their customers into their little snit. I don't envy anyone who lives in that part of the world during this violent, murderous upheaval, but this app makes suckers of all who buy it.

Aperio Lux says my review is not true. Then why was I told TWICE that I would not get an update? Why did you remove the version from the app store and replace it with a new one I had to buy again? Why did you reply to my question with the answer that I had to buy it a 3rd time? You can NOT "always download from 'Purchases' section in Mac App Store." When I tried to I was told "no longer available" and I had to purchase a new version. What I said in my review is true. You are not a reliable developer.

Set to launch at startup, but no toolbar icon and always have to go to prefs and manually start it.

I've used this app since Tiger, but this latest Mavericks release has a bug that I had hoped this release would fix (reported to developer but no answer yet). I have apps assigned to various spaces, each with a different desktop. Cleaning the launchpad database resets all my desktops to the wave default. Previous versions retained my customized desktops. Have returned to Launchpad Editor for cleaning up and arranging items.

Where's the provenance certificate stating that it was actually shot at Mavericks Beach? This being Apple it might have been taken in China. (The Developer link here links to a file titled osx_hero - a considered alternate name?)

Wow - I didn't know there were any literal people left in our post-modern world. Take a course in irony. The comment was a comment on the humorless literalism of people not able to see that asking for a "provenance certificate" on a desktop would have to be a (look up the next word if you need to) joke.

The pref pane doesn't pick up the need for an update because this is a beta - should be labeled as such.

Checkmate 1.0 was a memory hog and I could leave my Mac for hours and it didn't check anything. This update fixes a lot of issues, starting with the gobbling resources problem. I check it periodically, and definitely whenever the fan revs up, and this app is no longer showing up on the list. Also, as soon as I leave my desk for even a short time it goes into action. On its first scan after being updated it found a volume structure problem. I checked the drive with TechTool Pro and DiskWarrior and both found the problem. I repaired it with TTPro and rechecked with DW and the directory was repaired (also freeing up some space). MicoMat may have been a bit premature in releasing 1.0 but now I think they've got it right (no, I don't work for them) and I suggest the outraged here give this version a try, especially if they purchased the first release.

I actually paid for this beta, thinking that CleanApp 3 worked so well I'd support the development of 4. Bad choice. All three betas ate up CPU like paranoid gun buyers after a massacre and the background daemon kept crashing. Trashed it with the excellent AppDelete.

Still doesn't sync correctly with iPhone. iTunes 10 would sync from whatever platform an app was download to. But as of 11 iit syncs only if downloaded to computer first, UNLESS Backup (not sync) is selected, in which case it correctly syncs to the computer the apps downloaded to the iOS. This is seriously unintuitive. iTunes 10 synced perfectly in either direction when selecting Sync- what gives?

This is a great app - as long as you're careful to not overdo it on the removals - it's best to check everything set to be removed, as it's occasionally possible to remove components of other apps from the same developer. One thing I like about a competitor's application, AppDelete, is the Contextual menu under Services, making for quick right-click removal. Would like to see that in CleanApp...

Simple, elegant, as fast as it gets - at least by my benchmarks against other conversion apps. I recommend it.

Tried this a few times with restarts, permission repairs, etc. As soon as it installs it opens Parallels and Windows. No sign of the plugin anywhere on the Mac side. MacBook, 10.6.3, Safari 5 (also, does installer give a choice of All Users or individuals? Have no choice in the window except all users). Also sent this info to developer.

Got this from the Dev and it worked. Hey David -

Looks like Parallels hijacked with .safariextz extension and want to load itself instead of letting safari handle it.

Step 1. The installer is only necessary for those without extensions enabled. If you have done that already we're set for Step 2, if not please make sure you have enabled extensions by following the instructions below.

Step 2. Download the "extension only" using the dark green button from http://echodot.com/creations/amazon_search_bar/

Unzip this, and drag and drop the .safariextz file into Safari 5.

I dragged it directly into Safari and all works fine.
