I just spent a good 15 minutes searching the "new, improved" website trying to find the German language pack ('cause my wife and kids use it). The link at MacUpdate takes you to the main English download page without a hint of where to find different language packs.

The trick is to add the two letter code ("de" in this case) in place of the "www", e.g. "de.libreoffice.org/download". So, buena suerte, bon chance & viel Glück at finding the right language pack for you.

Yes, I do see a link to other languages on the "fresh" page, but it's still missing on the "stable" page at http://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-stable/

The link to other languages still does not appear on the stable page and I am not interested in using daily builds, but stable releases only. I solved my problem by replacing the download link with the country code, something than no everyone would think to do. I'm simply trying to find an easier solution for less savvy users.

A number of features present in 3.3.2, but absent in 4.0.0 is very large indeed, killing the utility of the program to people depending on just those features.

The lack of widescreen view did it to me. I'm sure others are effected in different ways. I've already read about the lack of sync. What other things are missing and should be updated or put back in?

After seeing Microsoft Office OneNote on a PC for the first time just a few weeks ago and immediately recognizing its simplicity and value, I was unable to find a comparable application for my preferred platform until now. Scapple is *exactly* what I was looking for: a free form virtual board for writing down notes and ideas without all the (mostly unused) extras and features of your typical outlining program. Till today I've been using PostIt Notes (also known as FLYNs = "effing little yellow notes") for these purposes, but very likely no more. I'll be a registered customer as soon as 1.0 is released. The only thing I don't like about Scapple is its name!

An amazingly feature rich WebKit-based browser offering YouTube video downloads, integration with popular websites, etc. with an extensive set of preferences. Unfortunately, the toolbar icons look like they were taken directly from Windows and it doesn't follow some typical browser conventions (such as Command + L NOT highlighting the location URL).

After adding this, my list of web browsers for the Macintosh has now hit the 200-browser milestone.

In this program just about every step has to be carried out manually. By my count you have to perform 7 actions just to get from a URL on the clipboard to a downloaded YouTube video waiting for on your hard disk. To get the same result, a true Mac application would only have you paste the URL and hit the Download button, with all other options available in the preferences.

Still, I've been using it regularly for quite some time now and it has never failed me once. It's rock solid, reliable and delivers perfect results every time.

(As an aside: There seems to be quite a lot of ad copy in the reviews.)

Since I don't want Apple to track me through purchases made at the Mac App Store I've sent an e-mail to the developer asking him to make alternative arrangements for people willing to pay more for a license. If anyone else is willing to pay EUR 10-15 or the equivalent in USD, please get in touch with the developer and urge him to make this possible.

I'm still avoiding/boycotting the App Store. Shareware, freeware, etc. needs to be freely available, not stuck behind a login name and password so my software downloading habits can be tracked by The Man.

Occupy Free Internet!
