- [ ] Pros:
- [ ] Can produce a 16x9 aspect ratio DVD whose menus display properly when played on a TV-connected DVD player.
I have yet to find a DVD Creator at the Mac App Store that is able to do this simple task.
- [ ] Can produce a decent picture quality single-layer DVD with 3-hours of content.
- [ ] Cons:
This application is very fussy. You have to play by its rules or you won't be allowed to play.
- [ ] Application cannot be located in a folder or path that has any space characters in its name.
Perhaps there are other "illegal" characters that cannot be in a path, but I have not tested that extensively.
- [ ] Video clips added to a project cannot have any characters in their filename that are beyond the traditional ASCII set.
Unicode filenames need not apply.
- [ ] If you don't "baby" this application, it may freeze up during processing.
Don't move its windows around or you'll be sorry.
- [ ] Conclusion:
- [ ] Version 2.2 of this application, the last "stable" version that worked at all for me, was really showing its age when run on my 2011 iMac under Mavericks.
- [ ] Version 2.6 is no worse than version 2.2, and has a few more features.

Remind me not to write any more software reviews using OmniOutliner. ;-)

The current version of this app runs under Mavericks, but is less stable than it was under previous versions of OS X. It's overdue for an update.

There are a lot of powerful things this app promises to do. Too bad it's barely usable because it's so buggy, buggy, buggy.

Will not launch at all on my iMac running latest Mountain Lion. Back to version 2.2. That's the latest one that actually works.

Why do I bother with this app at all? Because it's the ONLY free/cheap DVD creator I've found that can produce a 16x9 DVD in which the menus display properly on my TV-connected DVD player.

Hello Sleek. Per your suggestion, I downloaded and installed version 2.4.2. Sadly it did not run well on this system. I think one or more of the internal open-source background components must have silently crashed. Back to version 2.2 for me.

A few days ago I was web searching for the words and chords of an old song, which involved visiting several sites. I was barraged with numerous MacKeeper ads popping up in new tabs in Safari, including one ad that managed to do a drive-by download of this "product's" installer. I have no idea if this "product" is any good, but one thing for sure, I promise NEVER to purchase from a company that practices such sleazy marketing tactics.

Heads up. Version 7.6.3e crashes when it tried to load some files, probably ones that are imperfect in some way. Developer has been notified.
If you have an older version, don't ditch it until you know for sure if it can read all your files.

I can count on two or three fingers sites I've encountered that wouldn't work properly without Silverlight. My solution has been to leave the site and assume they don't want my business. Same goes for Flash. Same goes for Java.

Fortunately, I just got hold of a folder of 165 scanned images of book pages from the Internet Archive.

Unfortunately, these images were in JPEG 2000 format, which Fopydo can't read.

Fortunately, GraphicConverter to the rescue.

Unfortunately, Fopydo converted everything to black and white, when I told it not to.

Unfortunately, the OCR output was laughably bad.

Fortunately, that wasn't Fopydo's fault. The source material was pretty gunky.

Fopydo is definitely a work in progress, but not quite ready for prime time.

I'm confused. What is "Free ($12.00)" supposed to mean?

Gawd, I wish I hadn't "upgraded" from version 10.x.x! Unfortunately, reverting back seems close to impossible.

And another thing. This new version has not fixed the infinite "Matching your music with songs in the iTunes Store" bug.

When I try to convert video files to MPG for a DVD, Burn 2.5 consistently throws an unknown error at me. Time to dig into Time machine for the previous version. It never gave me any trouble. (Early 2006 iMac running Snow Leopard)

One more data point: Version 1.2 has no effect on /etc/hosts whatsoever. I don't have version 1.1 to fall back on.

This version still repeatedly crashes the Plaxo Assistant background process on my mid-2009 MacBook. Plaxo denies there is a problem. I can't find anyplace to upload my growing list of crash reports. I'm about ready to stop trying to get this POS to work.

STILL not 64-bit compatible? I just tried this version on my mid-2009 MacBook running Snow Leopard. It never syncs anything because one of Plaxo's background processes crashes.
[Version 3.16.1]

Chrischram had trouble on 06 Nov 2009
This version claims to be compatible with Snow Leopard in both 32 and 64 bit mode. After several uninstalls/reinstalls I have been unable to get anything but crashes of background processes on my mid-2009 MacBook.

Under Snow Leopard this version of Monolingual does something to its preferences file that causes the application to crash after a number of runs. deleting net.sourceforge.Monolingual.plist and then resetting personal preferences fixes things for awhile, until next time. I just tried locking the preferences to see if I get better mileage. Time will tell.

WARNING: Be sure to have a good system backup before installing version 2.2.1. YMMV, but it rendered my Early 2006 iMac unbootable. Thank the gods for Time Machine!

As far as I can ascertain, this plugin blocks ads by not allowing Safari to launch. (Intel iMac; latest Leopard; latest Safari)
[Version 2.0r2]

chrischram had trouble on 28 Nov 2007
Under Leopard, does not download schedule. Back to 1.8.1.
[Version 1.9]

chrischram had trouble on 28 Nov 2007
This version has a major problem! Under Leopard, it is impossible to return to the front side of the widget from the preferences side. I guess I'll have to take a trip in my Time Machine to find the previous version.

Leopard users: Skip this one!
