iA Writer seems cool, but some of the most important features that need to be clarified before I'll buy it is ...

HOW DOES THIS PLAY WITH OTHER APPS? WHAT FORMAT DOES THIS SAVE IN? CAN I EXPORT IN HTML, RTF?

I'm not willing to spend $18 to find out something that should be basic information on the app's page.

Here's an email I sent to the dev:

I am wondering in what format your Writer app exports. Can it export in HTML since it utilizes the Markdown syntax?

Here's what I received back:

Not yet.
This week: markdown import export (with many small bug fixes).
Next week: Different encodings and RTF and HTML Import/Export. Not sure how much time the latter will take.

Hope the helps anyone needing to know what I did.

I hate to say this because I had high hopes for JungleDisk, but it did not fit my needs. Disclosure: I was using ChronoSync for the actual syncing as I found the native JungleDisk app just too awkward, so this is more a review of the service.

I found the service a little unreliable, and it had too many disconnects during the syncing. This meant I had to babysit the process, and it ended up being not worth the effort.

I now just use Dreamhost's backup service with ChronoSync since I use them for my web host and have a lot less problems.

LOL; an 8 bit browser that requires a 64 bit processor ... such geeky irony! But seriously, can anyone enlighten me on the purpose of this app?

This game is very chill and is great on iOS. The music is perfect for the game environment, too. I'll have to try it on the Desktop.

I was initially impressed with Billings as I am a designer and loved the interface, but as soon as I had to bill a client, I left the software and went back to On The Job for my time tracking and invoicing. Here's why:

You cannot invoice a client for a month's worth of work. You are forced within the constrains of a "slip." There is no flexibility. This is a huge flaw in the program in my opinion. I have many clients that have multiple projects, and I just bill them per month for my work. I just need a program that has different filtering mechanisms that allow me to bill per time, per project or per client.

Billings was rendered worthless as soon as the above mentioned problems were revealed. This is sad as I loved the interface, but above all else, I need function before form.

Really, that's the best Apple could design for an icon? Geeez.

I agree Bunker, as a designer myself, I realize the importance of good design. I strongly feel Apple dropped the ball on this one. I didn't like the original icon very much, but I like it more than this new one.

I not too sure why others have not reviewed this app, but I guess I will be the first. On the Job (OTJ) is a pretty functional piece of software. The organisation of the task timing is nicely done. You have clients, and under each client, you have projects. Within these projects you have jobs, or tasks.

Each job has a title and notes as well as the times in which you worked on the job. It has a list of all the dates and starting times you activated the timer for that particular job. You can invoice 3 different filters -- Invoice this Job, this Client or All Jobs. Then you set the date range.

The invoices are okay. You can choose from templates and customize them if you want. This is where the app breaks down a little. The customization is a little awkward and hard to get "just right", so if you are a perfectionist, good luck getting exactly what you want out of them. But, overall you can get a nice invoice to send to you client.

Another cool feature is the menu bar icon which you can start and stop timers for any of your jobs. The app has a great inactivity monitor which if inactive for too long it warns you and gives you a choice to stop and remove time or continue. The one thing it misses that I would like is a pause.

Pros: Clean interface, nice organization, inactivity monitor, menu bar control and it hasn't crashed on me yet (I have been using this for months).

Cons: Invoice "designer" is a bit awkward and hard to get "just right"; no pause job, just stop job and I would like, but don't need, a notes section for the different times (nice if you want to leave yourself a note from where you left off).

Summary: A good solid and stable app that does exactly what you need and quite a bit of what you want. It is a crucial piece within my workflow.

Opps, this was supposed to be a reply to PIK80's question about how to write multiple word tags. Hope it helps.

Just wanted to provide a little feedback for JungleDisk. I just started using it, so I am not going to rate it yet. After I installed the program, I ran into a problem, so I sent them a support ticket. They replied within 24 hours and helped me out.

So far, so good! I am backing up 5GB to test it out as I write this. I will rate this once I have spent enough time with it. Talk to you then!

I really like this program, but came across a problem that is a little worrisome. After a couple of days post-installation of BetterTouchTool, I put my computer to sleep and I could not wake it back up. I did a force shut down (hold down power button for more than 3 seconds), then restarted it.

Everything is fine now, but BetterTouchTool won't launch now, so I don't know if BTT caused the problem or was just a victim of an error. I will reinstall BTT and see what happens. I just thought I would post it here in case others have a similar problem.

I will say that this software is great otherwise!

It seems BTT was running just wouldn't open the preference pane for me. Got everything working again, but some of my settings were off. Seems like everything is good to go. Didn't even need to reinstall, just force quite BTT and relaunched.

This app has worked like a gem for a while, but now it crashes every single time I try to convert a wma to anything else. I have the latest flip4mac, latest switch and the latest OS. It will convert other formats, just not wma. The only error on console is "exited abnormally: bus error". Anyone else having problems?

Am I the only one that just gets load static when I upgrade? My 1.4.2 works flawlessly, but when I upgrade, no matter the station, I get load static.

LOVE THE APP BTW!! Yes, Snowtape is REALLY COOL, but this one is completely free and awesomely functional.
