Fantastic App for setting up Lyric Notifications. Also offers Keyboard control. Does not do much else for me- but, great free App!

My review pertains to TunesArt 1.2.2- which can still be obtained here . It is free- affords the best Lyrics down loader (most accurate), ITunes control, Deskwork Album Art of all the apps I've tried- including the more popular. I've tried them all- CoverSutra, GimmeSomeTunes, TunesLyrics, GetLyrica, MenuTunes. However, according to the App Store- the newer versions have lost a lot of functionality. 1.2.2 still works fine on Lion. Incredibly stable. I would email the developer and offer to pay $5- a great bargain for this version!

The best free ITunes controller, lyrics down loader I know of. It is not as accurate in obtaining lyrics as TunesArt 1.2.2. However, TuesArt 1.2.2 is no longer widely available. The new version costs $5- and, is apparently not nearly as functional. Anyway, GimmeSomeTunes offers almost everything you could possibly want in a controller. It is just not as customizable as the old TunesArt. Great Value- and, exceptional functionality nonetheless. Highly recommended!

Amazing developer response to my queries. I've contacted him three times- with clear, complete responses within 3 hours each. Can't compare to more expensive programs- however, it does what I need fairly intuitive. If I were to improve- I would make the PDF version of the manual downloadable from the program. It offers much more detail concerning how the program works than the online manual. Further, I would make the program naturally expand beyond 1 page when working on more lengthy diagrams. The enlarge this portion of the diagram is not intuitive. All in all- highly recommended- and, a good way for a novice to start learning how to do their own diagrams.

Very simple to use, efficient, and effectively helps you keep track of your must do items. Another most useful app from Lighthead software- the makers of the equally handy (for me) Caffeine. Both are Free! And, both deserve accolades for simplicity, and being incredibly practical and convenient. Apple really should incorporate Remember into their operating system, actually. Thanks, Lighthead folks! Please note: I am using Lion, and it still works great. Keeping my fingers crossed that it work on Mountain Lion, as well!

Love the interface. It is just so convenient to access everything on the Menu Bar for me. Does want I want, when I want it- and, is easily accessible. For me, it is especially useful to maintain Unix Clean-up routines. And, for stopping and restarting balky programs. Recently, had difficulty and the developer was extremely responsive.

Another rip-off from Pariahware- unless you don't have Word. Then, I can't speak. Or, have the need (which not many do)- of needing to merge multiple Word documents, multiple times. Here is the instructions on how to merge Word documents in work- from PC World . Simply go to the place in the document where you wish to merge- and, access the File Menu item - Insert Document. However, I imagine that somehow, he gets people to buy this. Perhaps because he offers software for the PC, as well.

I stand by my statement. It is easy to insert a document into word by going to the "Insert" file menu item; and go to the "File" submenu item. I do have Word. Yes, It may be easier to add multiple files to a document using Doc Merge- but, not much so. Not enough to justify a $14.99 price tag. Unless you do so on multiple occasions, each day. At least, in my book. No need to try out Pariahware's Doc Merge to understand this when I have Word and utilize this function.

Yes. You are correct on all 3 accounts. My comments were spurred initially by your MacZot promotion- which decidedly is geared towards the novice/mass user- Not Book publishers. I have not downloaded or tried the App because I find it ridiculously easy to add a file to a Word document (which occurs maybe twice a month- if that)- in Word, itself. Finally, I give it one star for your pricing and marketing practices. Perhaps DocMerge works well for a Book publisher who needs to merge Doc Apps many times a day (I can't imagine that- but what do I know)- but I rate the App a one star because for the vast, vast majority of users- it adds little functionality over a free option. You have a propensity to overcharge for apps that do just that. Witness ShooApp (also a MacZot promotion)- that adds a little granularity to that provided by SpritedAway. $15 is a lot of money to some, for software that adds such little over free options. This is my opinion, at least.

This is a review of version 1.2.1. I use Lion, and I find the free version (a link to download is provided further down this page)- is fantastic. I don't use it to pull album art. However, it is great for finding lyrics. Much better than my other apps- such as TuneLyrics and Lyrica. It also can be used to do a google search, or paste the lyrics into the track. Indispensable in this version for Lyrics. I also use it for putting album art on the desktop. From the reviews- the newer version may not have the same functionality. My two cents. My ratings are for V. 1.2.1.

Just wanted to comment about the developer. He (they) really stand behind their product. I had difficulty, and they went above and beyond the call to make me a happy customer. They are serious about providing superior customer service- and, I am appreciative of this! Bob Zozus

This is not necessarily the program's trouble- it is my own. I am thinking of purchasing Pathfinder (it is on sale elsewhere for the next few days.) However, I am not sure why I would do so, except for it's excellent reputation. I use the excellent Default Folder to place files where I want them. I use EagleFiler or iDocument to organize them (based on need). Keep a pretty clean download folder. Have DeltaWalker to do folder comparison. So, I'm just curious if I'm missing something by not purchasing Pathfinder. I'm not a power user- just a normal, somewhat knowledge user who does not program or do graphic work. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

Thank you. I did purchase when I had a difficult time handling a bunch of files (renaming task). I use it sparingly, but am glad that I made the purchase. It may be more useful to me in Lion- since, I am not sure that I am going to like the changes made to the finder.

I had the same problem when downloading version 1.4.3. It wouldn't open. However, I sent an email to support- and, they got back to me the next day. Apparently, the 1.4.3 version is compiled as a 64-bit application- which has not opened on some systems. They directed me to this site- for version 1.4.2. It works! I'm a happy camper again. So, I give their Tech support an A+! However, they should have made note on this site (and others) of the potential difficulty with version 1.4.3. Or, waited to release it until it worked on all Intel systems running Leopard.

I've determined that on my system, at least, the problems seem confined to Leopard. Tiger still seems to be fine!

Thanks, Zom, for getting back to me...

1. No, I don't think the slider is obtrusive at all. My problem on my system is that it does not float above all the other windows- like it did in Tiger. In other words, when I switch to an app that takes up the whole screen- it disappears. Unfortunately, that limits greatly the use of the slider.

2. And, with regard to the upper right hand side of my menu disappearing- I'm not sure where I would get such a log. I'd be glad to search for it- if I knew how!

3. Glad you are thinking of adding an updater.

I really miss Mousequeak. I do hope that I can again use it- soon!

With respect and admiration,
Bob

P.S. I'm glad you explained the logic behind the name. Makes sense. However, not sure if it would work in the U.S. should you decide to market Mousqueak in the U.S. as a shareware app.

Hi Zom!

Thanks for continuing to work on this. I do like the modular design that you are working towards- to reduce potential conflicts with other programs- I bet. Nice.

However, a few thoughts on the transition and new program.

1. It would be nice if there was an easy way to know there are updates to Mousquek. Sparkle, perhaps. Or, at least a link that would allow one to know if you updated the app.

2. The name- I'm sorry, I just don't get it. What about "ITunes Slider Control" or the "ITunesSlider" or even "ITunesSlider Control & Display"?

3. Just recently, I had both ITunesVolume 1.22 & Mouseqeak break on me so that I can not use them. Specifically, it won't do the following:
a. Stay above all the other application windows. No matter if I ask it to stay above the menu- or float.
b. And, it destroys the right side of my finder menu. Once I run Mousquek, or ITunesVolume for that matter- the right upper side of my Finder menu disappears- in all apps. Very frustrating. No more time, date, etc.

Anyway, I will keep an eye on your efforts. Your program, in comparison to all the other myriad ITune products out there does some things outstanding (or has, in the past). They are:

1. Animate the album art when the song changes. Great effect!! If possible, a feature request would be to allow the possibility for the effect to be invoked with each song change- not just each album change. It is so cool having the album artwork hurdle towards you- no other app does this- to my knowledge.
2. Best implementation of showing the lyrics and artwork to an album by simply putting your cursor over the slider. Outstanding. Now that I can't use your app- I go to the Dashboard to look at Lyrics & artwork. Not as convenient.
3. Only Itunes controller app that I know of that allows switching of playlists without using a menu item.

For each of these three things- your app stands alone. I am sorry that I can no longer use it for these three functions- in particular. I know of no alternative programs that allow this functionality.

Good luck with further development. I'll be watching. And, thanks!!

Still a great app. However, the developer has been hassled by the record companies- which claims that this little app violates their copy write protection. What? Anyway, this version does not work anymore- it may have been disabled. The good news is if you use version .6.3- it still works. It can be downloaded from this site- the only one I have found that still has it: ! If, for some reason, you can't get it there- I will be happy to send you the dmg. I can't believe this freeware developer is being hassled for providing a service to the Mac community- which makes ITunes that much more enjoyable. No wonder they will all be subsumed by direct to marketing in the coming years. Good riddance! P.S. Sorry about the diatribe- this is just one of life's little injustices that just crawls under one's skin....

My download link for Pearlyric .6.3 was blocked out of the last missive. So, I will try to spell it out. You can download it at the Softpedia website. Mac Os- then dashboard widgets- then under music- on the second page- you will find Pearlyric .6.3. You also might try iLyrics 2.4 (don't try to Download from MacUpdate- it sends you to a site where the file seems unaccessible) & iTunesLyrics 3.2- both found on the first page of the widget section for Music on the Softpedia website. Hope this helps someone!
